Object: Final Update on Thyroid Cancer
Hi Everyone,
Well for those who have not been in the whole loop I underwent my Radiation
Therapy a little over a week ago and had my final scan on Friday. The
Nuclear Med Doc's Assistant called me this morning to say, "The scans looked
good." What does this mean? It means, as usual nothing showed up in the
scans and we won't know until my next blood test if the treatment was
successful. My next blood test will be in six months, if my tumor marker
level drops then the treatment was successful. If the tumor marker level is
the same or higher, I'll be honest, I have no idea what the next step is.
Anyway hope all is well with everyone.

I have not completely followed your story but listened to some of your
experiences. Maybe this will help improve your quality of life some, but
then again hopefully things will return to normal again. I received your
email, will hope to talk to you soon. David

I know you haven't David, and it's ok, you had your own things to deal with
and the last thing I wanted to do was dump my things on ya. Thanks for the
comment anyway, you are correct it does improve my quality of life some
because with all the doom and gloom of having cancer I appreciate life just
a little more I guess.

I'm glad the scans looked good. Even if that was expected, it
certainly beats the alternative!
I'd cross my fingers for your blood work, but 6 months is a
long time to have crossed fingers. I'll be thinking of you and
sending healthy thoughts often, though.
Thanks for the update.

Yeah 6 months is a long time, but life does go on and well I'm glad to get a
six month reprieve anyway.

Fortunately I don't have Leukemia... Thyroid Cancer is very slow growing
"most" of the time. Though there are a few strains of it that are quite
aggressive, luckily that's not what I have so living with Cancer and
spending years fighting it, is more of a inconvenience then a death
sentence.

If the tumor marker level is
the same or higher, I'll be honest, I have no idea what the next step is.

hang in there, jane!
