Object: FINALLY! A "shop manual" for finding/marrying a foreign bride.
You've seen them a million times: those fascinating web sites with
thousands of pictures of foreign women, many of them incredibly
beautiful, and every one of them saying she is "looking for a kind,
gentle man who will love me," and likes "cooking, sewing, and making a
cozy home" and "walking and holding hands on the beach at sunset."
But yes, it's true: few months from now, the girl in that picture
could be sitting in your living room. Kinda scary, isn't it?
Well... somebody FINALLY wrote it: a detailed, realistic, down-to-
earth guide to this whole "mail order bride" business. What it is and
what it isn't, how it really works and how to do it. This really is a
"factory shop manual" for the whole process, from start to finish.
Take a couple of seconds and check it out at:

Thanks,

Hardly. That's a common misunderstanding. There is NO SUCH THING as a
"mail order bride." Really, these "marriage agencies" are little more
than online dating/introduction services just like you see here in the
U.S. The only difference is that the ladies are 10,000 miles away,
instead of across town. When you find one you're interested in, you
exchange emails, phone calls, etc. with her, then visit her (a face to
face meeting is required for her to get a visa to the U.S.). Then if
all goes well, she comes over here on a Fiance Visa. If the two of you
marry within 90 days, she can stay permanently.
In general, these really are decent, sincere women, and if you take
your time and are careful, you can find the relationship you've always
wanted and needed in your life. The problem is that in general, the
two really don't understand what they're getting into, and it all
falls apart. Preventing that is what this book is all about. You have
my word: it will be the best $25 you ever spent.

We did a day trip to Karlovy Vary (I'm not sure of the spelling - it's
Carlsbad on German). It caters largely for Russians - they own the
largest hotel and half the gift shops - and the Russian girls were as
pretty as any.

but bill, what's the advantage in them being 10,000 miles away instead of
across town?
and my other question is, how come we never see russian and philippino men
signing up at these places to advertise for an american wife, or american
men seeking russian and philipino wives, or american women seeking hubbies
in russia and the philippines? it seems a little lopsided for a dating/intro
service, dontcha think?

When you find one you're interested in, you
exchange emails, phone calls, etc. with her, then visit her (a face to
face meeting is required for her to get a visa to the U.S.). Then if

jeez, what a boondoggle. it's not like there aren't lots of single russian
and philippino women here already. and the neat thing is, they already have
visas. maybe even citizenship cards. that's got to be some kind of plus.
i'd say these "marriage agencies" provide a service whereby young ladies can
respectably and legally ***** their way to american citizenship, all expenses
paid. on this side, they're ogled by socially dysfunctional men who can't
get a date across town or anywhere else and are looking at overseas dating
as their last-ditch ace in the hole, or (more likely) just doing some
typically avoidant fantasizing.
finally, we come to the question of why you posted your ad in
alt.support.depression. that's some pretty focused targeting there.

the russians are late entrants in the game. i was getting letters from the
philippines by women who wanted to be my wife or housekeeper even before
there was email. mimeographed, hand-printed sheets of paper stuffed into
envelopes: "hello, my name is...."
we begin to forget that there was spam before the internet, but there was

IIRC the term was/is used in Australia, mostly for
Asian females.

According to my spam-mail, it's entirely for beautiful Russian women.

the russians are late entrants in the game. i was getting letters from the
philippines by women who wanted to be my wife or housekeeper even before
there was email. mimeographed, hand-printed sheets of paper stuffed into
envelopes: "hello, my name is...."

we begin to forget that there was spam before the internet, but there was
actually quite a lot. just not so much that we had to install filters on our
mail slots.

I never got surface mail wife offers; I'm not sure that Phillipinas
wanted to come to Britain. There's a mail blocking system we've added
our names to (my wife has a different surname from mine - we couldn't
agree on a third name for both of us to change to). We now rarely get
unsolicited post.

The opinions given above may be mine. They might also
just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?
