I finished with my therapist today. I gave her a hug. Of course I
forgot I was wearing my sunglasses on a thong and that got in the
way a bit.
Amazing lady. She even cried a little... I am so lucky to have
found her. The last five months have been an amazing journey of
self discovery.
The whole financial future of this family hangs in the balance. I
am totally calm about it. I believe this venture will work. It
will work.
The important thing is that I seem to have rediscovered the
ability to hope and maybe dream a little. I have rediscovered
that purpose that seems to elude us so well.
Done with therapy. Now...

Cool, so now you're fixed.

This may mean something else in your country, but here...I am disturbed.

Yep. All fixed... just like a computer is all fixed when you get
it back from the shop...

Thong? That is a traditional word for a strap of leather used for
tying up stuff. In my case it is the strap around my sunglasses
that means I can hang them around me neck so I won't leave them
wherever I happen to be. I've lost about 150 pairs up till now
and as these are expensive Raybans I decided I want to keep them.
I seem to remember that "thong" has other meanings but I can't
remember exactly what.
As you were already fairly "disturbed" I don't feel too guilty... ;)

Well, I suppose it still means tying things up.
Only this side of the pond it's usually undergarments worn by women that
doesn't exactly cover any part of the ***** cheeks.

Well, "thong" underwear is all the rage here in the states... it's more like
dental floss than underwear, if you ask me...

I'd put the "" around underwear.
Dental floss is a good analogy though.

I just saw a comment about this, ah serendipity.
"Buying a thong is like paying to give yourself a wedgie."

It's also what a collection of thongs and a small triangle of cloth are
called, when sewed together. The way they are arranged may be important.

I'm happy that you found a therapist you found helpful. I know you were ready
to toss the whole lot for quite awhile.
I'm even more excited that you have rediscovered the stuff that is important to
you, and that they seem within reach. That's so incredibly huge an
accomplishment. I know it takes a lot of work to even get close.

Thank you for the compliment. I do feel a small sense of
accomplishment. Yet, what I mostly feel is relief. It seems there
is a pile of stuff I don't need to think about anymore. I feel
that the inner energy has found a way out past all the walls. I
am not 'cured' I am fixed as Franz so aptly said. I *wanted* this
badly and all I needed was a technique to achieve what I wanted.
Jenny (my counsellor) said *wanting* to be better is half the
battle. I guess I wanted to be better.

Wanting to be better is definitely important... but belief that it can happen
is important, too. It's the belief part that screws me up all the time.

Belief is easy if you start with some obvious truths. Start by
realizing we nearly *all* of us confuse belief with hope. Confuse
cold hard facts with emotive analogues of how it could be.
I found the way to filter out the confusion was to start back at
the basics. Black is black and white is white. People will do
what they always do. I have survived thus far.
Then I work on from there... little tiny steps of belief that
form a rough philosophy. Seeing the results from pushing myself
and letting irritation have some room to drive me. Inevitability
can be a negative... or if viewed from a belief structure,
however primitive, it can be comfortable and useful.
Believe in belief and treat doubt and embarrassment as enemies of
the State of Mind. Don't welcome them, challenge them for the
fools they are.

Thanks. I feel so strong right now. I know it won't always be
like this but it has been many many years since I felt even this
together and focussed. She just seemed capable of pushing all the
right buttons and the timing was right, I was ready.
She made a comment that made me laugh. She said, "Therapy is like
leading a horse to water, you can do it but you can't always make
them drink. You not only drank but you leapt in and rolled around
a little... it was a pleasure counselling you".
