Object: Fish oil, fish oil, fish oil
I am a convert, big time, and I want to spread the word. Believe me, I
ain't from the big fish oil industry. I have nothing to sell. I just
want to help people if possible.
Anyway, I have suffered from moderate depression my whole life. I say
moderate because I have no real idea how bad these things can get, and
I've never tried to hurt myself or been in a hospital. But I have spent
year after year hating myself with a fury, and once even told my mom
that I envied Holocaust victims because they got to die. I know - vile.
Therapy did nothing for me, though I threw myself into it. SSRIs helped
immensely. Prozac then celexa helped me very quickly, and made me less
angry, bitter, self-loathing, irritable. Only thing is, the sexual side
effects were nearly as bad as depression. And after a while the
emotional flatness "depersonalization" feeling that so many people have
becomes quite brutal in its own way.
Finally, about 5 months ago I went on an all out internet search. I
looked for everything: meds, supplements, electro cranial massage. I
wanted SOMETHING to help. Not a quick fix - hell, I've been
introspecting for 30 years now, to no avail.
Anyway, I start reading about fish oil, and figure what the hell. I try
it, take 1,000 mgs a day of a brand that purifies for heavy oils and
has high EPA/DHA ratio. After a few days I simply feel better. I keep
taking the oil. For the past 4 months my mood has been stable. Totally
frigging stable. I don't want to smack people on the street. I don't
sit and wonder if I'm the most disgusting human being that ever lived.
I feel damn good.
Now, my short attention span hasn't been helped too much, and my
anxiety is still there, although it seems to have lessened. But the
mood stabilization is real. I haven't felt this good, this long with no
side effects in... well, since I can remember.
Here's the mechanism that I've read about: the brain requires omega-3
fats - which fish oil is full of - for the serotonin receptors to work
optimally. Omega -6 fats, which our western diets are full of, are not
optimal for this purpose. Some have posited this as at least one
etiology of depression.
Soooo, looooong post, and I'm sorry if it's boring. But I beg you: try
fish oil. Get a brand that purifies the oil of heavy metals, which I'm
guessing is a good proxy for quality. Take it every morning (1,000 mgs)
with breakfast. Stay with it. And tell me how it's going!
Good luck.

I am a convert, big time, and I want to spread the word. Believe me, I
ain't from the big fish oil industry. I have nothing to sell. I just
want to help people if possible.

I also have to comment on this. First, let me start off by saying that fish
oils have worked greatly for myself aswell in helping my overall mood and
depression especially. I take about 8000 mgs spread throughout the day,
taking about 2 with every meal (by the way, taking a higher dose like 8000
mgs will NOT make you fat, as fish oils do the opposite, they actually
lower bodyfat levels).
The thing about depression thats tricky is, there are many different
pathways to depression. Something as simple as a vitamin deficiency can
cause severe depression and even psychosis. So you must must make sure that
you are getting enough vitamins, essential fatty acids (such as fish oils),
essential amino acids (found in protein), minerals, and anti-oxidants. One
of the major causes of clinical depression in society today is due to stress
and lifestyle.
If you want to feel good, you'd better start feeding yourself the right
stuff. Sure it will take some work, but after a while it will become a habit
and you wont even need to think twice about what youre doing.
I recommend starting fish oils at a lower dose such as 1000-2000 mgs, and
then working up to 8000 mgs spread throughout the day, although if you may
need to take more or less depending on how you feel.

Hello :))
I ate a fish today (or half one, to be more accurate). I suspect I enjoyed
it more than the fish did. Pan-fried lemon sole, with steamed broccoli and
rice. I still have enough fish for two more meals, so if I'm not careful I
could get a bit healthy.

It's an allusion to the 1980 novelty song "Fish Heads" by Barnes & Barnes:
(Chorus:)
Fish heads, fish heads, roly-poly fish heads,
Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up, yum!
In the morning, laughing, happy fish heads.
In the evening, gloating in the soup.
(Chorus)
Ask a fish head anything you want to.
They won't answer--they can't talk.
(Chorus)
I took a fish head out to see a movie.
Didn't have to pay to get it in.
(Chorus)
They can't play baseball, they don't wear sweaters,
They're not good dancers, they don't play drums.
(Chorus)
Roly poly fish heads are never seen drinking cappuccino in Italian
restaurants with Oriental women.
Yeah.
(Chorus)
Yeah.
....or something like that.

The studies in the list, that would be two to four dozen of those pills
per day. Seems a bit much. Maybe it tastes bad and people won't drink it

8 grams per day is a lot of pills, maybe one or two dozen. I wonder if it
available bottled.
I use magnesium pills for the very same reason. Sure would be nice to be
able to have a balanced diet and not be exposed to so many industrial

Maybe it's just the tin squeaking and not the fish, at all? Have you
considered that?

How do you know that?

And are ya talking in the tin or out in their natural environment? (I

hmm. All very good points. I hadn't considered the tin angle - only the
fishy one. And seeing as the fish were rather mute - having been removed
from their salty comfort zone some time earlier, the possibility of any
squeaky activity had (perhaps prematurely) been dismissed out of hand. There
is possibly a very valuable lesson here, but it is completely obscured just
now. Maybe when the squeaking subsides i will be able to think clearly
enough to fish it out

This is a hoax. I fell for it a few years back and believe me, there is
nothing to it. I can't even recall exactly how many fish I drilled into.
It must have been over two hundred. I didn't find oil in any of them.

I wonder if you misunderstood the whole idea.

Haven't you ever lain awake at night listening to a whole room full of
squeaky fish?

HAHAHA!!!!!1
