well, don't go overboard with the build-up and the expectations. just do the
interview and don't take it personally if you don't get the job. most
interviews don't work out. the only one that works out is the one where you
get a job offer.

People make up statistics all the time. 63% of the population know that.
some large organizations have a policy of advertising and interviewing for
positions internally before they advertise them externally. they often have
a preferred internal candidate in mind by the time they go public, and they
only do the public thing pro forma. this is especially true in the civil
service, where it seems the OP has been trying to find work. i don't know if
it's 40% of the time, but i wouldn't be shocked to learn that it is.

All government towns are hellholes. Perhaps Ottawa is not as much of a
cesspool as Washington DC (chocolate city with a marshmallow center -
it's a Malamar cookie is what i'm saying), but it's still politics and
government and hulking heaving mountains of *****, ***** stacked
so high you couldn't remove it if you tried

If you are saying they call you in to an interview, because the union
contract says they have to interview 20 candidates, but they already know
they are filling the job from the inside....

interview in your current location. Work on preparing for a job in the
place you're going to move to.

13-56) on it, just for a try, and the D string tuning peg ...exploded. It
lay in a heap with the words 'Gibson Deluxe' ironically close to the words
Made in America. it's at Sam Ash, I'm tired of busting Gibson's stones.
I got a 42 year old Fender telecaster that has never exploded, and it lived
with me through the tough years.
