Flapping my wings |
It's that day. Almost time to fly. There's a 30% chance of light snow here
and a 40% of light rain in Dallas. The stuff flight delays are made of.
I had a ton of trouble getting to sleep last night. Too geared up. All my
sleep meds didn't work so I tried a small glass of wine. That did the trip
but now I feel groggy this morning. Mixing sleep meds and wine is not a
good idea. I'm going to try and take a nap later this morning.
I've only completed a small percentage of my packing. I have all the
clothes packing to go. I need to get a new suitcase someday. I have
several of carry on size, and then the next stop up is a monster. I need a
suit case somewhere in-between those sizes. But for today I think I'm stuck
with the huge one. There's no way to fit 7 days of clothes and supplies in
a carry on bag.

Thanks Lisa. Just finished packing the suitcase. I've still got a few
hours to burn before I have to hit the road.

i hate the waiting time. maybe that's part of why we're usually
slightly behind schedule. luckily, we've never missed a flight.

I've never missed a flight but I've come close a couple of times. Once we
forgot the camera so we had to turn around to get it. On the same trip, my
mom was driving and she missed the airport turn off. It's a toll road so
exits are few and far between so it looks us a long time to turn around. We
made it to the plane just as they were closing the door.
Another time I was sitting and patiently waiting at the wrong gate. I was
at the gate printed on my ticket but they'd changed it without announcing
it. Everyone knew but me. Seeing no people around but me as take off time
approached, I rechecked the computers and got the new gate with minutes to
spare.
However, my habit is to get to the airport 2 hours before the departure
time. That leaves enough time for just about everything to go wrong and
still make the flight.
Yep the waiting is the hard part.
Bruce.
