Florida, the Blow-Me State |
Florida's gonna get blown without a kiss again, big surprise.
(why do you people LIVE there?)
Oh, wait. I lived through two major blizzards and the Chicago
Heatwave of '95. 800+ people died. A/C is a luxury there. I sure as
hell didn't have it. Then... wait six months... sub-zero cold! For
extra amusement, there's gangbangers with AK-47's. Some of them are
politicians.
I was in California for three months. Three earthquakes. Stared in
amazement as my sister navigated freeways stacked three and four high.
Thinkin' yeah, that's real damn smart. Then found out the shiny new
office building I worked in was built on a fault line and underground
water table. Uh-huh.
Um. I'll stay here. What's a little wind. A FEMA trailer's better
than that crap.
See you in January when I'm running around in shorts!

I've always loved me, I was just taught that I didn't.

I hate Florida. I hate Chicago more. Can't move anyhow, no idea
where I'd go. I despised Southern California, couldn't wait to leave.
When I think of the places I've been, not many are better. Minnesota
is beautiful -- in the summer. So's Wisconsin. I ain't freezin' no
more. Las Vegas is too crowded. NYC? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Philadelphia? Ugliest damn city I've ever seen, next to Newark, NJ.
and Gary, IN..
The prettiest place I ever drove through was West Virginia...
extremely poor, no industry, incredible geography. What a shame.
I like some of what I've read about Georgia. Not Atlanta, though.
Gridlock. Savannah looks expensive. They get hurricanes. What's the
difference.
Seattle is my fantasy. I've never been there. Yeah, I know it rains.
Mudslides, earthquakes. But it seems cool otherwise.

Laugh! You know, I wouldn't have minded living with the Hillbillies at all,
so long as I didn't have to eat Granny's possum stew for dinner. Yuck.

there's too many people here, there's too much crime here, there's too many
hurricanes. it's not one hurricane now and then, it's hurricanes one after
the other all season. Then winter is perfect. That's like reward for putting
up with scortching heat and humidity and constant stress of impending storms
for 8 months. but winter is over early and by end of march its boiling
again. I think your right tho, lots of places suck just as much as FL. New
England is beautiful and it's much less populated and some parts have
practically no violent crime. I need that to be able to sleep and it's
familiarity is good, i like knowing the area well. If i had a lot of money
I'd buy a house here and live here in the winter and New england the rest of
the time. Thats my goal, to be a snow bird and the annoyer, instead of the
annoyed.

My characters have a house, a condo and an RV. When stuff gets to
'em, they hit the road. I'd like the latter. If a place gets on my
nerves, I'd just drive off and find another park. People live quite
comfortably in RV's full-time.
The really nice ones (Class A, bus chassis) are around 100 grand. The
others are too doggone small. Yeah, that ain't gonna happen. Dreams
are nice, though.

I think that is about what the property tax man here does.
