Football pool - Super bowl |
OK, who will win and what will be the score? Closest to the score
wins. Post your prediction here and I'll combine everyone's guesses
here on Sunday.
I believe the game will be Indianapolis 49 Chicago 21 with many more
cheesy P. Manning commercials in our future.

Omigawd, how many more could there be? I
have to think about this, Fred, but it's
hard. Because I don't care. And I don't
want to even think about it. I suppose I
could be a more gracious loser -- but a
gracious loser is still, ya know, a
loser. Screw grace. Football season is ovah.
Besides, it's not just that they beat my
guys, albeit fairly and squarely, in one
of the more heart attack games I've ever
watched. He's had the NFL change the
rules more than once after losing to the
Pats. And I think the game, in general,
has suffered a bit from those changes.
And I really dislike the whole "God
wanted us to win" crapola. I mean,
really, that's blasphemy.
Yes, I prayed during the AFC game but,
ya know what? My conversation with
god/goddess went like this: Okay,
god/goddess, it would be insulting and,
yes, even vulgar, if I prayed for a 4-
yard completion on 3rd down. I will
resist temptation and Satan (who fools
us into believing god/goddess cares
about who wins a football game).
Instead, I will pray for world peace and
an end to starvation.
That's exactly what I did. Maybe I
thought god/goddess would love me more
for doing that and, just coincidentally,
Troy Brown would be in the right place
to catch the pass. Okay, I'm weak. But,
not so weak-minded that I blame
god/goddess for 3 and out, thus needing
to punt. Well, I've thought this
through, Fred, and I'd rather nurse a
grudge than be right, so:
Bears: 31
Colts: 26
Thanks so much for running the pool,
Fred. It's been a blast.

I don't really like either team either: stupid Bears beat
my Seahawks twice and got lucky against my Cards.
Anyhow, you're welcome Gayle. Congrats on winning the Season
standings and thanks for playing.
