And I don't want to pursue the subject anymore. You have called me stupid
already, and never address the points raised by us (Thomas, Neohlistic,
Whiskers, etc.), you just feel offended about them. You are talking now with
your liver, not with your head, so I do not see that keeping "talking" will
take us to anything good.

Well, you're probably right. And you're not listening to me either, so
it's rather pointless, given that neither side seems to want to listen
to the other, eh? It takes 2 to tango.

You are being dishonest to yourself. For example, pretty much every
time something is posted to asd which could possibly
be interpreted as being critical of the US or of Bush,
you jump in and act as if you are seriously offended.
When you post to asd, there seem to be only two topics:
- pets
- the bad liberals/socialists/communists/marxists/progressives
have bashed the US yet again.

So, I was offended at myself when I posted that I'm ambivalent about the
war? When I posted about a Radio Free Europe radio station I listen to
out of SF, where one talk show host in particular is strongly anti-Bush
and strongly anti-war, yet I label him very much NOT a Bush-basher, I'm
deluding myself?
I've said 100x what a basher of anything is. I'll repeat it yet again,
since it doesn't seem to sinking in.
You are a basher of X if:
a.) Whenever you discuss X, you overwhelming discuss the bad things about X;
b.) Whenever you discuss bad things, you overwhelming talk about these
bad things in relation to X;
c.) Whenever talk about the class of things in which X is member, your
primary focus is about X itself while largely neglecting the other
members of the class.
Tape this to your mirror so you can re-read it every time you shave in
the morning, you'll get it sooner or later, I have faith in you Thomas!
When you post to asd, there seem to be only two topics:
- pets
- the bad liberals/socialists/communists/marxists/progressives
have bashed the US yet again.
and your posts are about:
-the badness of the US (with an occassional slam against Europe or
politicians in general to show you're fair and balanced (tm))
-computer stuff.
We're even. ;-)

OK, so you don't want any of the above. Alright. Now, why, then, do you get so upset with so many people in Europe not supporting Bush's foreign policy (including the infamous "war or terrorism (sic)"), Iraq invasion and all that? This is not meant as a rethorical question. I'm curious at why you mind Europe's opinion at all. After all, it's not like we can stop you, is it?

Because, once again, it's not the fact that they are against the war
that I'm screaming at. As I've stated many times, I have been very
ambivalent about the war from the start.
So, now that I've explained to you many times that it's not that you're

I don't want you to not drink American beer. The point is, I don't care
what beer you drink. In fact, much to the surprise of Mr. Harding, I
avoid American beer if possible, I prefer (here's one for Marty) German
bier.

It's a question of balance, proportion, common sense, and reason.
Mindless emotionalism from either camp is just that. What I'm
protesting is the mindless anti-American emotionalism and hyper-focus on
all things American. Jesus, there are other countries on the planet you

hm... you said the same about my posts. Thor and I both post from
Comcast. Are we getting posts that your ISP isn't getting??

I don't read/post through my ISP, I use the free German server that used to
be news.cis.dfn.de and is now known as news.individual.net. But your posts
are not the problem. I see your posts and Thor's posts, it's the posts he
was responding to and the one you were responding to in that case that I
didn't see.

Oh, oh.... duh. Heh, I get what you are saying now. Thanks. :-)
I wonder why that is? I'm pretty sure I was seeing posts from all of them
before. I hope this news server isn't going sour on me, there are probably
not that many good free news servers out there.

I don't want you to sing praises about America.
Sorry, but I can't promise not to find things to approve of.
Well, if you didn't, then that would probably make you a you-know-what.
It's a question of balance, proportion, common sense, and reason.
Mindless emotionalism from either camp is just that. What I'm
protesting is the mindless anti-American emotionalism and hyper-focus on
all things American. Jesus, there are other countries on the planet you
know. I mean, I know we're pretty cool so everyone pays attention, but
we're still only what, 20% of the world's economy? 4% of the
population? Please, let's give some equal time here.
I don't want you to drink American beer.
Once was quite enough, thankyou.
American beer is crap, at least the mass produced cheap stuff that I
drink because I'm poor.
I don't want you to support Bush and the war in Iraq.
I don't want you to, either ;)) (Although the war is long over, isn't it,
or has another one started?).
There are still GI's dying on almost a daily basis. It's still a war.
I don't want you to not criticize America. Get it yet?!
I do not want there to be so many things worthy of such great criticism.
Life is seldom as it should be, though.
Balance, reason, common sense. Balance, reason, common sense, oh my!
I tend to agree with a lot of what you are saying. I hate the 'Tall
Poppy Syndrome', I have always hated it. Sure there are reasons to
feel concern. Who doesn't? But America bashing is a fact and one I
have NEVER subscribed to.
All I can say Thor is, ignore the rhetoric. Ignore it. For it is
worthless. The truth is far simpler. Somebody has to the carry the
can and IMHO America has tried to do just that. It is not your fault
nor the fault of your countrymen. It is the fault of the human race
and so far there are far more cultures/countries that have done far
worse than America and without any conscience whatsoever.
We should watch and be wary, but this ridiculous anti American
diatribe is totally unfair. I just wish Bush would get out and
someone who can handle the mantle better could take his place. That
is all, nothing more.
