No way!
I read a horrible book about that. I mean, the book was good, what it
described was horrible. This American doctor was a fanatical advocate of
the procedure, he not only ran his own facility but would also travel
the country for vacations, swooping down on a hospital and performing
20, 30 lobotomies in a single day. He was a real showman, proud of his
two-handed technique, one icepick (not really, but close enough) in each
hand, going into both eye sockets at once. Ta dah! Next? Like I say, a
horrible, horrible story.
