For the U.K. People - What is South End? |
I was listening to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night...
again... The new episodes are coming up on September 21st.
In one of the episodes, Arthur makes a comment about having nightmares when
he was a kid that he dies and all his friends go to heaven or hell, but he
has to go to South End.

new episodes??
Are they doing the rest of the series in radio play format or somethin?
Now that, would be somethin'. Particularly if the same production team (BBC
?) and actors were used as for the 1st 1. Thought it worked really well. But
that was a a few years ago now...
come to think of it, the theme music uses Banjo quite prominently.. which is
a bit unusual

The Beeb are doing more, using the same actors where possible. Later
books, if I remember rightly.

Yep. It's like wet dream come true! Most all of the original cast also.
Even Douglas Adams himself will be in it. They used his audition tape.

Southend is a seaside town near London.
Pretty commercialised and tacky, not particularly pleasant (unless you like
that sort of thing)

South End or Southend? I should think it's the latter, which is a
seaside resort in Essex. I have heard it said that's it's a dead end,
but I've never been there.
