Don't visit Mexico! Even the police are criminals there.

Heh. I don't think Joey will ever admit that; he seems to live in a delusional world where all that counts is his own opinion. Like if the USA army was under his very own command, or anything...
Now, I have to admit that it would scare the sh*t out of me if someone like him ever sat in the Oval Office. We would end up in Global Thermonuclear War just a few days after the election.

I understand your desire to slam back at Joe, and he certainly deserves
it, but don't you think this is a rather sweeping statement? If you're
talking about popular culture, the US is a dominant player in the world
market.
If you're talking about high or more serious culture, then what about
people like Aaron Copland, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Samuel
Clemens, Alice Walker, Frank Loyd Wright, Vera Wang, or the Hudson River
School of painting? You can be critical, fine, but to say that the US
completely lacks any culture whatsoever seems a tad extreme.

You may recall that in September 2002 I went to NYC, joined up
with minxvox, and we spent the weekend at the Dodge Poetry
Festival.
There were many wonderful poets from across the US, and a
delightful Palestinian poet who was the hit of the festival.
I chose to sit in on a two-hour workshop one afternoon, ordinary
people reading poetry they had written in response to the
atrocities of September 11, 2001.
After hearing the sheer breadth of superb poetry, and seeing the
amazing cross-section of American society, including housewives,
businessmen, a biker (whose poem was simple and heartfelt and
left me with goosebumps), students, elderly people, blacks,
whites, Jews, born-again Christians, well, I am quite convinced
that "high or serious" culture is alive and well in the USA.
You just have to open your mind and look around.

Absolutly, Spanish is a ***** languge spoken by shitty people who have
long outlived their usefulness. Even Columbus was an Italian, take

Cheap labor bomb your factories, now the Defence department has no
choice to buy american planes built by Americans, as for you well, you
now serve a much better prupose, food for worms.

Gee, let's see, instead of allowing me to expand my business into
sensors or whatever ever else, allowing me to hire more americans in
good paying jobs, we give our money away to foreigners.
Some fuckhead in washington probably figured it was a good deal since
you buy agricultural products ensuring dumb fucks and their mexican

Hehehehe... I knew you would write this. You're becoming too previsible,
Mr User. Also boring.
I could give you a very long list of our achievements over the last 500
years... amazing given that we were under a very severe thought control
system which prohibited innovation (it was imposed to make it easier for
the olligarchy to keep their priviledges - by blood and fire if
necessary).
But I won't. I'll only give you four examples: the discovery of the
neurons (Ramón y Cajal, Nobel prize), the first designs on remote radio
control (Torres Quevedo, also pioneered robotics/cybernetics), the
submarine (Isaac Peral, working units, not only theoretical designs) and
the helicopter (Ricardo de La Cierva, also working units).
But there are literally hundreds, in all fields on knowledge.
And, above all, we're better good looking :P. Oh, it's still not clear
what nationality Columbus was. Most historians agree that he was
Genovese, though - which doesn't make him Italian because Italy the
country didn't exist back then.
I almost fall off my chair from the laughters. Felt good - let's do it again :P

No, they're clever - find somewhere else where they enjoy a better life.
About traitors, well, I could say that you, Mr User, are a traitor to
the ideals your motherland is based upon, all that story about freedom
of thought, freedom of speech, and so on (which are actually liberal
ideals that coudln't be put to practice in Europe at the time - yes,
liberals, you know, those people you hate so much). And don't tell me
how many medals you were awarded. You, being an extreme right-wing
fascist, are as far from those ideals as it gets. Did you swear respect
and obedience to your Constitution and to the ideals it was founded upon
when you were in the army? Then you're not only a traitor to your
ideals, but also a liar.

Makes more sense the other way round, children feeding on their parents
corpses, don't you think?
About American predominance... well, it's a good thing you people are
quite intermixed already. There's something really really bad called
inbreeding. You wouldn't like a world where all other monkeys have been
exterminated and the only ones remaining are all wasps. After a few
generations you'd rather begin to mutate or else you'd degenerate.
Has happened before in closed communities.
Not to mention that then you'd have no foreigners to rant about. Your
life would be too boring.
Oh, there's something called 'History'. It's quite interesting, it's
about things that happened, and stuff.
Empires rose and fell, and all of them thought their supremacy would
last forever... you're not different, but Mr User is too stupid and
ignorant to notice.
Amazing how human foolishness doesn't seem to get any lower over time.
Next time speak of something you now - maybe, only maybe, that way you won't make a fool of yourself.
Good thing not everyone over there is as ignorant as you -
certainly your ministry of defence (which has been purchasing our cargo planes for a long time and has
recently started purchasing our flight simulators),
Cheap labor bomb your factories, now the Defence department has no
choice to buy american planes built by Americans, as for you well, you
now serve a much better prupose, food for worms.
and organisations like NASA (did you know that a lot of the sensors and other hi-tech stuff used in your
satellites and probes are 100% spanish, designed and built here?) don't think the same.
Gee, let's see, instead of allowing me to expand my business into
sensors or whatever ever else, allowing me to hire more americans in
good paying jobs, we give our money away to foreigners.
You're not giving it away, you're buying things with it.
Also, well, this is a free market, isn't it? If the Chinese and the
Koreans make cheap stuff at acceptable quality standards, then people
will favor them above maybe better quality products from the USA but a
lot more expensive. The key is to specialise in something you can do
absolutely better than anyone else - then you won't have any competence.
Some fuckhead in washington probably figured it was a good deal since
you buy agricultural products ensuring dumb fucks and their mexican
slaves can eat, ***** those people, migrate them to spain.
They do anyway. An unexpected twist of history, ironic too, that
fortunately they'll get something in return from the country that
destroyed their culture and civilisation and exploited their natural
resources for 300 years.
Call it justice if you want.

Spanish an "inferior" language - to ENGLISH!!????
Absolutly, Spanish is a ***** languge spoken by shitty people who have
long outlived their usefulness. Even Columbus was an Italian, take
away that and what good are the spanards? A thorn in Britania's side
for a few 100 years.
Yeah, but we have orders of magnitude more. Knowledge is a funny
thing, if they didn't discover it, someobody else would of, like an
American, putting the rest of the world further and further behind till
they get so far back, no chance of ever catching up, then push the
fucks into extinction.
And, above all, we're better good looking :P.
Um yeah right. Have that "med" look, ick.
Oh, it's still not clear
what nationality Columbus was. Most historians agree that he was
Genovese, though - which doesn't make him Italian because Italy the
country didn't exist back then.
I almost fall off my chair from the laughters. Felt good - let's do it again :P
That was a very long time ago, Mexico however is older, but unlike
failed spanards
Failed spaniards? Get a grip, Joe. As an American said, this country is 'fucking awesome'.
You can keep your USA to you,
I'll keep our higher literacy rate (not that having a higher literacy rate than the USA means anything, anyway)
Ho hum, till Americans get smart and decide, ya know the smartest
thing we could do is blast everybody back to the stone age, except us,
no knowldge, no factories, no medican, just death for the rest of the
world. Buh bi.
and our much, much better quality of life (if you don't trust the World Health Organisation,
then at least you'd trust your fellow Americans that decided to establish here - night and day).
Of course all UN associates must be nailed to walls till they die a
few days latter, the old nobility had the right idea, keep your
position by blood and fire, ***** humanity, the more you suffer the
happier I am.
What can I say, they are traitors, people who's loyalty to the world
is stronger than to the home land.
No, they're clever - find somewhere else where they enjoy a better life.
Why would I want to see human animials having a better life instead of
dying in some hole, like Camp X-Ray.
I have zero ideals, zero morals, the ultimate pragmatist, what course
of actions get me closer to my goal of total global domination today.
If course of action A is "evil" and violates principles, that's
irrelevent, all that matters is the end goal.
Very easy way to live, no right, no wrong, no need to worry about
fairness or justice, just one simple question - does it aid in the
accomplishment of Goal X. If it involves the elmination of large
numbers of human monkeys, so much the better.
Did you swear respect
and obedience to your Constitution and to the ideals it was founded upon
when you were in the army? Then you're not only a traitor to your
ideals, but also a liar.
Simple leason on troops, nobody dies for 'freedom' or "rights"
anymore, especially other people's rights and freedom. Oh sure, the
founders did, they had nothing, what did they have to lose?
No, for the last 100 years when american troops go to war, ultimatly
it's to preserve their homes and way of life for themselves and their
countrymen, just like every other army.
Different places call it different things, facism is the ultimate
expression of it, the Volk, the loyalty to the ground. It's our
ground, our people, that's all that matters. Good, Evil, right,
wrong, progress or regression, totally irrelevent, all that matters is
the ground.
If you do find a better country, bomb it back to the stone age and let
the natives feast on their children. ensuring American preminance till
the end of time
Makes more sense the other way round, children feeding on their parents
corpses, don't you think?
Most infants and totlers are in no position to fight for survival:P
About American predominance... well, it's a good thing you people are

Has happened before in closed communities.
The fullfilment of the prophasy "he who dies with the most toys wins".
Elminate everyone else, one day you too shall die, but you died last,
thus you have won the game.
Game over, no more monkeys, we win. The universal spirit, hope, love
and everything else that defines pathetic humanity dies.
Not to mention that then you'd have no foreigners to rant about. Your
life would be too boring.
Won the forigener battle, NEXT, always new and exciting wars to fight.
Oh, there's something called 'History'. It's quite interesting, it's
about things that happened, and stuff.
Empires rose and fell, and all of them thought their supremacy would
last forever...
That has a name, it's called the "Pesent's hope" also refered to as "
the wheel".
Long history to it, nasty little creature, it basically states that
nothing is forever, that one day the "account" will be settled, that
if you wait long enough, every group has it's chance to shine. That
nasty creature is what make the wreched continue, kill that, you kill
hope itself, and you are no longer "human", you have made the jump, a
new speices of being.
There would be you the human monkey - homo spaien, and there would be
me, I'm partial to Draconis promethius - the first dragons, dragons
are mythical creatures not "gods" but not natural either, they are
beyond nature.
Which sorta puts us closer to the second war, what happens when all
the monkeys are gone? Why go after their "gods" of course. Like
Pagens or Buddists who beleive that everything is connected, well the
connection between it and me are now severed, and if you think I'm
vicious against monkeys you have seen nothing.
you're not different, but Mr User is too stupid and
ignorant to notice.
Amazing how human foolishness doesn't seem to get any lower over time.
All the others made one mistake, and they kept repeating it, very
understadable, very stupid - Slaves.
They left the subjegated peoples live to increase their wealth and to
ensure them an easy life. People to cook their food, clean their
cloths, build their castles/temples/etc. Stupid, only a matter of
time before they rise up, wipe them out, what's going happen, they are
going to miraculously resurect themselves and fight? I think not.
Next time speak of something you now - maybe, only maybe, that way you won't make a fool of yourself.
Good thing not everyone over there is as ignorant as you -

sensors or whatever ever else, allowing me to hire more americans in
good paying jobs, we give our money away to foreigners.
You're not giving it away, you're buying things with it.
No I'm not, it give *YOU* the ablity to buy. If that money came to
me, instead of Spain, it would increase my net worth, I would spend it
again, within the confineds of the US, building up other Americans.
BUT unlike free trade and open markets, it has another benifit, it
keeps you out, all foreigners get weaker and poorer. Now granted I'v
capped the maket to what we can consume domestically, and because all
nations are overpopulated I'm pushing the very bottom out, but
ultimatly once the equlibrium is reached, there is one nation, beyond
anybody else's capacity to compete with, even with billions of surplus
humans.
Also, well, this is a free market, isn't it?
I don't beleive in free trade, open markets.
Classic capitialism, the capitalsim of Smith and Malthus had an
assumption, a rather fatal one, perfect labor markets. That's why
Malthus predicted humanity would self destruct, the population of
humans would always grow faster than the economy.
Two solutions - the NecCon solution, build bigger markets, free trade,
specialization etc.
The alternaitve, which works even better, is facist in nature, thus I
love it - Curtail demand - limit population. At which point I'v fixed
the labor market and can continue under classical capitalism.
Humanists hate it, it devistates humanity, I hate humanity, so have no
issue with it.
If the Chinese and the
Koreans make cheap stuff at acceptable quality standards, then people
will favor them above maybe better quality products from the USA but a
lot more expensive.
Thus enabling the Chiness and Koreans to improve their quality of
life, thus enabling them to procreate, and push their cultures of *****
around the globe, now why would I want ot share position with a bunch
of people who are nothing like me and I want dead? Same goes for
Latin America, or the middle east, etc.
The key is to specialise in something you can do
absolutely better than anyone else - then you won't have any competence.
I think you mean competion, and that's a misapplication of Riccardo's
theory. No such animal as absolute advantage, it's all comparative.
Speaking of Riccardo's theory, it's stupid. Riccardo, like all
economists, is looking for the maximum growth curve, what provides the
maximum return over the long haul.
I don't think that way, by nature and training, I'm a tactical field
officer, short, decisive battles for position. The end goal other
than winning the war isn't even relative. It could be a war for
survival, or ensuring market share in a sector.
Riccardo argues that even if I win, the windfall isn't that big and it
took alot of effort, BUT if I ensure that's all there is, and burn the
potential, it's all that matters.
Wealth, true wealth isn't how much you much you have, or how much you
can accumlate, but how much you can afford to toss out. Like having
soo much money I could burn 10 Million USD/day, every day, and not
miss it.
Most economist would argue that I'm wasting money by not investing in
potential, that there is more out there, what they don't realize is
that I'm truely wealthy. I have sooo much, and am soo secure in my
position, I can bun money, even if I got more,I would have more to
burn, I can't spend enough money.
To release the money into the supply causes inflation, the other
reason for free trade, way too much capital, not enough consumers,
pick one, both are valid.
The other thing economists don't understand is real wealth, they live
in theory land. the origional Rockfeller, he didn't measure hsi wealth
in dollars, he measured it as the % of the US GDP, I think he
personally accounted for 7% at his peak.
So again, if I'm wealthy, really wealthy, achieving potential makes me
poorer, sure I have more dollars, but by the nature of how it works,
my peice of the pie is smaller.
Some fuckhead in washington probably figured it was a good deal since
you buy agricultural products ensuring dumb fucks and their mexican
slaves can eat, ***** those people, migrate them to spain.
They do anyway. An unexpected twist of history, ironic too, that
fortunately they'll get something in return from the country that
destroyed their culture and civilisation
Now why would I want that, I want them destoryed, the more of them
destoryed, the more powerful I become.
Even American troops, and Ameican troops are different than their
European counterparts, we are very destructive, very disrespectful,
part of our national character when dealing with different peoples.
You see it in Iraq, we took over the airport, and sure enough the boys
shot the place up, all the beautiful decorations, trashed, all the
windows shot out, the furniture ruined, that's classic army
Americans, real Americans hate anything that's different than
themselves. It's only fitting that our nemisis was the Taliban, a
mirror image of yourself, classic enemy.
Which is why we are so much better than Europeans. We don't be want
to be your friend, we don't want to win you over, we don't want to
share, we don't want learn, if you do not do as you are told, if you
even appear threatening, I'm having a bad day, in a bad mood, I'll
just shoot/kill you, and it will not phase me one bit.
Add to that we are better armed, better trained, and better fed than
our enemies, we become the unstoppable machine.
nd exploited their natural

There is no such thing as a hyphenated American, you either are or you

I'd like to know why he thinks it is inferior. Are all languages inferior
to english? I'm just a simple mon-lingual gal .. So I don't know what he
means.
Of course, it can mean whatever you want - or nothing at all. You can
make up whatever criteria you want to decide a given language's
'superiority' above others. From a the point of view of linguistics,
it's totally nonsense, of course.
What I meant with my '... "inferior", to ENGLISH!!????' is that spanish
is a direct descent of latin, the language of culture and science until
the XIX century. English has a very large vocabulary - that's all. The
fact that it's the de facto international language isn't related to any
of its virtues - rather to the predominant role of the USA in today's
world.
I've nothing against english - I consider it simpler than spanish (but
you can express with the *same* complexity in both languages - just look
at the world class masterpieces of literature written in english - but
you've got to use a somewhat 'different' level of expression, like if
it's a 'spoken' english and a 'litterary' english; that distinction
doesn't exist in spanish among educated speakers. In this respect I feel
english lags far behind spanish in elegance. On the other hand english
takes 50% less space and creates new words faster - it's less redundant
and more dynamic.
Now, people that migrate there are all too often poor, unskilled and
uneducated (that's why they leave their country in the first place) -
don't take their language as the 'landmark' of spanish. Nor the horrible
language shown in those terrible, vulgar and bombastic spanish-language
TV soap operas and radio shows over there. Probably most of those are
addressed to those very same people.
Seems many more much more complex .. sooooo I suppose the answer to my
question would be 'no'.

Exactly - I couldn't have put it so well in written words, myself.
It's vigourous, flexible, and certainly expressive (I hope I haven't turned from sounding somewhat scornful to somewhat condescending - I didn't put my thoughts properly into words the first time). Also, well, I do think of spanish as being more elegant (my preference, of course), but it's not that I think poorly of germanic languages, quite the opposite: I consider german a very elegant, cult language, even if it has a harsh sound to my ears (yes, I know, there are quite a few dialects of german, I'm referring to the german usually spoken in german satellite TV stations; I don't know what other 'varieties' of german sound like). But then again, that's a matter of familiarity; I'm sure it sounds very sweet to native germans. Likewise, castilian spanish sounds very harmonious to my ears, but I'm told it sounds rather rough and dry to people in Latin America, which probably means that it sounds a lot more rough and dry to native english-speakers.
I reckon it's all in what you've grown to be used to.

I sounded too contemptuous at english - sorry if I offended you.
I didn't see any contempt; it's a fact that English is a
johny-come-lately
mongrel of a language compared with many (perhaps most). It is
vigourous
and flexible and expressive - but that's because people are; the same is
true of any language that is still attached to a living culture.
Exactly - I couldn't have put it so well in written words, myself.
It's vigourous, flexible, and certainly expressive (I hope I haven't
turned from sounding somewhat scornful to somewhat condescending - I didn't
put my thoughts properly into words the first time). Also, well, I do think
of spanish as being more elegant (my preference, of course), but it's not
that I think poorly of germanic languages, quite the opposite: I consider
german a very elegant, cult language, even if it has a harsh sound to my
ears (yes, I know, there are quite a few dialects of german, I'm referring
to the german usually spoken in german satellite TV stations; I don't know
what other 'varieties' of german sound like). But then again, that's a
matter of familiarity; I'm sure it sounds very sweet to native germans.
Likewise, castilian spanish sounds very harmonious to my ears, but I'm told
it sounds rather rough and dry to people in Latin America, which probably
means that it sounds a lot more rough and dry to native english-speakers.
I reckon it's all in what you've grown to be used to.
El Castellano doesn't sound "rough and dry" to me, and even, I neither heard
of that before.

I've read that, and similar comments, in the net, over and over. It probably depends on the writer's own accent. Obviously, well, it's difficult to write the following without offending someone, but mexican spanish sounds a lot more modern than other varieties of spanish (especially those spoken in South America) which really sound rather archaic to us (that's a subjective perception, of course; all varieties of spanish are equally 'modern', given that all of them are equally old). Maybe there's something to that - it doesn't sound bad to you because you feel it closer to what you hear everyday, but I've read chileans describing the TVE news as 'incomprehensible' (maybe because we speak faster here than in America?). So yes, I've heard it described that way. Also, 'snooty', 'flat', even 'weird dialect'... anyway it's only fair that we get our own dose of criticism, after all the years of the RAE's extremely rigid spanish-centrism (or, actually, castilian-centrism). So it does
n't bother me. Rather, I found it quite amusing.

No, I do not think it is fair. People who make those criticisms should worry
they will end up speaking something different from Spanish, and what unites
Latin America will be lost.
