freaking crazy weather |
two days ago it was 75 degrees.
today it took me three hours and fourteen minutes to make my 20 minute
commute home from work (i got to leave three hours early. i got home
pretty much the same time i would have anyway. rip off!) because of
the snow and the sleet and the tractor trailer trucks that couldn't
make it over the mountain.
nine inches so far on my deck and it's still coming down.
the dogs are most unimpressed.

And now, each night I count the stars.
And each night I get the same number. (Amiri Baraka)

It's the *exact* same where I am. I simply cannot believe that weather can
change from one extreme to the other so suddenly.

Molly plows her face through it, then throws herself on the ground,
making snow dog angels. With the already white face, she looks pretty
funny before she shakes off. Then she gets the towel rub with the
tail wagging. It's weird, I had a dog just like this for 10 years
before I moved away from her 6 years ago. I forgot how much I enjoyed
the routines. Even at 7 am with my hair stuck to the side of my
head. It gets me out of the house.
(The vet woman came to see her this morning. She has the first stages
of kidney disease, and I have her on the vet food, dry and cans. I
only have to be concerned if she gets a cold or something and stops
drinking water, cause she can't concentrate her urine (?) and would
need fluid shots in that case.// And did you see where Walmart dog
food is causing kidney disease and has killed 10 dogs? I bought some
cans in there recently, Alpo and Pedigree. Trouble is, they aren't
announcing which canned food was the killer, till tomorrow. Great.)

I remember once after an ice storm my Mom and I went outside with our
80 pound sheepdog and he hit the slightly sloped icy driveway out of
the garage and just slowly slid...rigid and perplexed...all the way
across until he hit the grass, it was so funny

Gotta be a golden retriever thing, my dog does exactly the same thing.
He LOVES the snow, just loves it.
