My 64 bit DVD of Vista showed up (amazingly quick too) and I picked up
Office 2007 Pro on Monday.
Maybe I'll start tomorrow.
This just feels like a chore, but if I had something like Mac OS 10.5
that had just showed up instead I'd be tickly pink.
At least a project to do.

Like the SMB networking that I use to shift multiple gigabytes from my
windows PVR box onto the mac for conversion to ipod format? Or the
SSH/SFTP that I use remotely, or the built-in Apache web server that I
fire up occasionally. The only problem with mac networking I've ever had
is the obnoxious "dot files" it litters directories with.

Back when I was running 10.3 the only boxes I would have been connecting
to would have been Win2k. Then I would just use the usual Command-K,
then for the address put in "smb://192.168.0.X/ShareName" and it worked
just fine. I'm running 10.4.9 now on an intel Mac and I occasionally
will use the network browse to find and connect to my share - most of
them are in my favorites list already though.
I suppose I'd need a little more information about what errors you're
getting. Especially because it's been quite a while since I was last
using 10.3.

After what I've just completed for a neighbour with a loss of
$158 to me regarding the Window(tm) license key procedure.
(after replacing a motherboard and needing to purchase a
new XP home edition CD)
Good luck. I'm not touching the shite. Don't wanna know about
it. Now have quite some experience with M$Shite and their Indian
helpdesk operators.
M$ can go and get themselves shoved up the arse by a
road-train truck as far as I'm concerned.
Their products have never worked, never will. Getting
the fucking thing working again was reapeat step after
step again. I've got it working now. Anyone who asks
me to do that again .... can do it themselves.
I think I would go truely insane if I had to use their
products myself.

How is the 64 bit version different than the 32 bit?

Double the bits. It's for a different hardware platform.

I got Office 2007. I don't understand how to use the ribbon. I shouldn't
have skipped out of the last part of that launch thing.
