Has your doc officially diagnosed you? I know the question sounds
obnoxious, I don't know how else to ask it. I'm asking genuinely, in
the context of this group, not as a put down.
I was never really diagnosed. The first shrink I saw thought I might
have borderline personality disorder, but he wasn't sure if I fit the
profile exactly. Nobody after that diagnosed me, although one guy put
me on anti-depressants for a brief while.

Janithor, i don't believe you are borderline. you might read the Wikipedia
article and DSM. but i just don't see you being that way.
i am diagnosed with 4 things:
major depression with psychotic features
schizophrenia
avoidant personality disorder
OCD
i have been on and off meds since 2001. i have only had 3 counseling
sessions.
my current counselor and doctor won't give me an exact dx, but they seem to
suspect schizoaffective.

Ah the wikipedia, the definitve source for information of dubious
credibility.
Get ahold of a copy of the DSM IV, I picked one up from my doctor for
free but they're also on ebay.

Do you notice any difference with the meds? I didn't when I took
anti-depressants, but then everyone is different.

Prozac makes me bouyant and hypomanic even. i've had some anger issues on
Prozac, so i suspect that it's triggering manic episodes. i seem more
stable and smooth on Lexapro. Zyprexa sedates me, and while i hear
"illusions" i can more easily handle them. i can handle stress way better
on Zyprexa, partially due to pure sedation and apathy.
however Zyprexa is often $150 to $500 per month. that's simply
unacceptable. i don't want to pay it, and i don't want anyone else to pay
it. i sometimes take meds when i have a stable job with insurance, which
ironically is when i least need them.
do any meds make you feel more stable? ever gotten sedation? if you have
experienced profound sleepiness, you might know why i avoid Zyprexa
sometimes. i go on a wierd roller coaster of insomnia and heavy sleeping.
of course i go on that roller coaster off meds too. only a stable job
stabilizes my sleep, then i get so paranoid, i can't stand it.
you have mentioned a bit about "fucked up sleep". i can relate to this.
