Grizzly Man soundtrack |
I saw a documentary yesterday about
making the soundtrack for Herzog's
documentary. Richard Thompson composed
and played the music. Watching the
process transported music. If you like
Thompson's music, and I've read that
Alan and Ponette do, I think you'd love
the doc.

Careful, transporting music across state lines can be illegal.
My favorite thing by Richard Thompson is his cover of
"Oops! I Did It Again".

You've heard that?! That's pretty obscure even by RT standards. I
didn't know you listened to Richard Thompson.
I think Thompson legitimizes the "Oops!" song -- at least somewhat. I
*like* the song when he does it.

Well, my defense is that I immediately
documented my error in RGB fashion.
We'll let the jury decide, eh?

Oops! Now I'm on a quest to find it.

It's on "1000 Years of Popular Music", where he performs it with a band.
I like another version better, though, with just him and his guitar; I
think this was on NPR, maybe a "Fresh Air" interview:

Thanks, Gayle. I have it already. :) I think the music's great. On the
other hand, I didn't make it all the way through watching the
movie.... (Admittedly, the only reason I tried to watch it was to hear
the soundtrack in context!)

Oops (I did it again...). Let me clarify that. I have the soundtrack,
not the documentary itself.

I'll bet you'd love the soundtrack doc.
Seeing Thompson make it up on the spot
when asked for "a 32-second piece" or,
once, they even asked for 64.2 seconds
was freakin' amazing.

Thanks for letting me know that. I'd love to see that.
Unfortunately, though, I watched the movie on TV; I only have the
soundtrack, not the movie CD.

If you are a fan this is a chance to hear him talk about what
motivates him, where the music comes from. To get to know him the man
behind the music a little. It was great I really enjoyed him.
I say rent the CD at the video store. if you are a longtime fan
it would be worth it to you, jill
