hi lisa, sorry you're dealing with things, I hope things improve soon. I
seem to have an opinion these days, hopefully this will get back to normal.

You could try taking some at a different time of the day, or rotating days.
I've taken some during the evening and it's helped with the sleepiness.
Haven't quite figured out what to do with the other stuff.

i'm already taking my stimulating med in the afternoon instead
of the evening. my sleep is usually screwed up, but it's been
particularly bad for the past month. the only thing that helps
is the occasional sleeping pill, but its side-effects are
almost as bad as not sleeping.

It might be time for a reevaluation, I would list all meds, symptoms, and
let him know what you're going through. Maybe now is a good time for a fresh
start.

Hi Lisa, I often deal with grogginess. pills or no pills.
when I do sleep, I sleep so deeply instead of lightly, that it often
takes me hours to feel completely awake & alert. coffee helps usually,
but not always. hopefully you can get to the point where the pills
don't make you groggy anymore.

i've been taking these off and on for a year and a half. i
think i'd do better if i could take them all the time, except
that they stopped working after a couple of weeks. they work
now if i take them occasionally, but for no more than a few
nights in a row.
i never did really wake up today, but i don't feel like
sleeping, either. i'm definitely medicating again tonight so
that i can get up in time for tomorrow's appt in boston.

i've had pretty much the same stuff consistantly: lexapro lexapro
lexapro.
but have changed anti-anxiety med and amount of it several times.
been very groggy the last two days now, and now kinda depressed.
it might be the change in temperature from hot to cool to hot.

i'm not sure what zopiclone is. this is temazepam, the only
thing that's worked for me so far. unfortunately, i build a
tolerance too quickly, so i can only use it a couple of times a
week. i'm seeing a new pdoc for a consulatation tomorrow. i'm
hoping he'll have an idea as to what might help.

zopiclone is good, in fact, it might be an alternative to try if your
body is warming to temazepam. you might find a range of drugs that you
can cycle every few months, but obviously don't trust me, i'm not a pdoc...

i checked medscape, and there were no hits for zopiclone, so
it's probably not available in the us. i'm going to ask about
other meds, though, and whether i can cycle them.

Doctors don't prescribe zopiclone here because the "active ingredient"
is eszopiclone - aka Lunesta.
That's not to say it's not around (especially in generic form!!!!). That
way the poor could just take double the dose of Lunesta pills and get
the same effect.
The other one is ambien - which if you've tried before with
disappointing results, push your Dr. into letting you try using it up to
20mg or so. It didn't work for me until I got higher doses and while the
FDA says 10mg, there's really no practical limit. (For instance if
anybody manages to OD on solely ambien they need to give me $100 in
their will).

i had two problems with ambien. first, it only worked for a
few weeks, i doubled the dose and it worked for another week.
my second problem is that it helped me fall asleep faster, but
didn't keep me asleep. the new extended release version might
be better.
