Haiku, cuz helps my depression |
Haiku is my new love, can't write them though, cant write poetry either..my
other love...do tend to like the early stuff best, 16th, 17th, 18th century
first is Chiyo-ni a women Haiku master born 1703
first snow--
if I write
it disappears, it disappears
~~~~~~~~~~
butterfly--
what's it dreaming
fanning its wings?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
women's desire
deeply rooted--
the wild violets
<><><<><><><><><><><><><><><><>
and some by the well known Haiku masters Basho, Buson, & Issa
ISSA
Naked
on a naked horse
in the pouring rain
````````````````````````````````````
Even with insects--
some can sing,
some can't
``````````````````````````
Blossoms at night,
and the faces of people
moved by music.
...........................................................
BUSON
His Holiness the Abbot
is shitting
in the withered fields.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Autumn evening--
there's joy also
in loneliness.
````````````````````````````````
The old man
cutting barley--
bent like a sickle.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////
BASHO
Misty rain,
can't see Fuji
-- very interesting
`````````````````````````````
I don't know
which tree it comes from,
that fragance.
````````````````````````````````````
It's not like anything
they compare it to--
the summer moon.
...................................................
if you want to hear more, yes I know not likely..on that one in million chance
I highly recommend these 2 books.
Chiyo-ni; Women Haiku Master. eds. Patricia Donegan & Yoshie. Tuttle

The Essential Haiku; Versions of Basho, Buson, & Issa. ed. Robert Hass. Harper

Here's a haiku I heard years ago on "Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast":
Who went downtown yesterday?
You're soaking in it.
Need to get some laundry done.
That's not the correct structure, of course. It should be 5-7-5, thus:

One of many Bush flip-flops: _A week after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Bush
said he wanted Osama bin Laden "dead or alive." But he told reporters six
months later, "I truly am not that concerned about him." He did not mention
bin Laden in his hour-long convention acceptance speech.
