i did once at an airshow. i've been in small planes hundreds of
times, but the helicopter scared me. just knowing that the craft
was completely non-aerodynamic and would plummet straight down
should the engine quit scared the hell out of me.

I've been in a couple of military helicopters, but none of them were in
operation.

The only time I have ever flown was when I was 5 years old, in a big
commercial airplane. And I used to work fixing small aviation radio
systems.

no, never been in a 'copper, but i've been in a small single engine
turboprop, and several jetliners, including a 747 across the Atlantic,
going to England when my Grandpappy passed away.
i've flew'd more than you have, haha, I WIN.

I did once. I got to do a ride along with LifeFlight for college. We
didn't pick anyone up, but we took a ride over the city. Scariest thing
in my life.

yup, every other day from May to August last year.. ..they had to fly us
into certain isolated areas to plant trees. there was this one pilot who
constantly stunted.. ..he'd do "the hammer".. ..fly you up super high,
then do this swinging downward dead drop, take you from zero g's to mega
g's.. ..some people hated him for it.. ..I loved it. oh yeah, and
he jacked his iPod tunes through the mic headsets..

sounds like a
hammer head
or a stall turn
one minute it's all sky
next, all ground
i don't think pilots of passenger carrying craft
are supposed to do that, strickly speaking
you can do it in a flight simulator
but you don't get the weighless
followed by the pulled Gs
so much

oh yeah, hammerhead.. ..that's what they called it..
yeah, he wasn't supposed to be doing that.. ..but he did things like that
constantly. he'd bank really hard all the time too. take the blood out of
your head.. ..he was a very tight pilot. I rode with about 20
different helicopter pilots.. ..and although he took unnecessary risks, I
felt more comfortable with his skill than any one else..
you went to pilot school?

no
was in a glider (sailplane) club once
was heaps good fun and clocked up
quite a few solo hours up in the end
very rusty now, so probably have
to start all over again before
they'd let me go up again
it's a good way to learn to fly
much cheaper than light aircraft
and safer than hang gliding
flight sim would be cheapest
by a country mile, but
i've never been in a chopper
and didn't know that they could
do aerobatics, but it figures
all good fun
.
