My daughter got some string into the hamster cage, and one of my baby
hamsters got it tangled around her leg. I got the string off finally by
picking at the fibers on the string, but now she's got a cut from where
the string twisted. I can see all the way to the bone. This is a very
small baby dwarf hamster. How can I bandage the leg? She's limping
around, I washed the cut, but I need to know if there's anything else I
can do. I'm so sad! :(

there's stuff called liquid band aid ,
you paint it on like nail polish ,
but in my opinion its best to just leave it ,
the hamster will lick it back to healthy

I think I might have that stuff in my first aid kit.

That's what I've thinking of doing. I wrapped a little piece of toilet
paper around her leg, but it looks like it's going to fall off. I moved
her to a small cage by herself just so I can see her better. She buried
herself in the woodchips and is trying to sleep.

Aww, Slunky, that's horrible! I don't have any suggestions but after
watching the video that Rhi posted, about 5 or 6 times, I hope the
poor little thing will be ok.

At least I got the string off. I was afraid she might lose her leg.
She's resting in her hut now.

Can you put neosporine or anything on it? I think all you can do
is keep it from getting infected. Of course, they might ingest
the topical antibiotic while grooming, and I don't know if that
would be ok.
You might try calling a vet's office and asking. They'll usually
tell you stuff like this over the phone.

That's why I haven't tried it yet. I don't want it to get sick too.

I'll do that. Thanks.
