"Homeopathic" dose of Abilify |
Anyone heard of this? My pdoc has me on a "homeopathic" dose of Abilfy;
2.5mg every other day. I was curious to see if anyone else had Abilify
prescribed to them in this manner.
And yes, I know it is an antipsychotic, but I am not taking it for
psychotic symptoms, just depression.

I have heard of Abilify as an occasional treatment for depression,
although I haven't tried it. It is sometimes the case that a
psychotropic medication prescribed for one condition (such as
depression) will be prescribed at much lower doses for a different one
(such as migraine headaches, or Parkinson's disease), or vice versa. I
don't know if this is the case with Abilify. However, if your doc
actually used the word "homeopathic," I'd be inclined to get a second
opinion.

As I said, he used the term loosely to imply the size/frequency of the
dose. He does not practice homeopathy.
Thanks for your reply.

I take approx 7.5 mg of olanzapine spread over three days, making 2.5
mg/day, and it works. These are powerful medicines and even a small
amount can be quite effective.

He used the term loosely to imply a small dose. He does not practice
homeopathy -- hence why I used quotes and said "homepathic" *dose*.

Does homeopathy have ANY science to back it up? Placebo effect doesn't
count.
It does sound like your shrink is a quack.
