It's a special feature, intended to make sure that you stay on line as
long as possible without the updates - but you still get the updates, so
you /think/ it's all meant for your benefit.

shut down , i get an update no matter what time it is

Yes I use that too, you can set it to update every hour, I set it for
daily at a specific time, if you set it to update too often it'll do
it as it boots while also doing its boot check which makes the whole
thing take ages.
Never had one that updates before shutdown, must be some weird
Canadian thang.

I liked it so much I bought it. Good kit for Windows, a lot of system
analysis tools which work better than the built in Microsoft stuff,
quite apart from its anti-malware abilities.
He couldn't get HijackThis ffrom http://www.merijn.org/index.html
either.
Or go to http://www.wilders.org/ to find out what to do with them.
