I've never understood how they can. I was a secretary/clerk-type for
years before I got into the computer department. I never could type
with nails.
Well, except maybe ring finger and pinkies. Then once we got away
from typewriters, I could do longer thumbnails, but had to have
shorter ring finger nails.
Now, the only ones I can keep at any length are pinky nails. What's
the point?

man, i don't know. my mom has long fake fingernails and she's wounded
me enough times with them by accident. i just don't think i could
function.
i keep mine cut short or they get in the way at work.

When i was working as a secretary, about a million years ago, my nails
would grow much faster, i attribute it to typing all day long
(stimulus), and it wasn't difficult to type with my real long nails,
but i've tried typing with fake acrylic long nails and i just can't do
it. Those things are awkward as H. E. double-hockey-sticks.
