Object: how does one become evil?
Having always hated myself I have no idea of what one might consider
'normal' because I have always considered myself bad or 'evil' in some
way.
Now, in my 30s, I have honed my cynicism to a fine blade and no longer
make even a tenth of the effort I may have once put forth to be
'good'.
It hardly seems worth it.
When I go out and buy a coffee, I say please and thank you. I often
give the cashier a tip, just because it seems like the right thing to
do and let's face it, It's nice to get a tip.
But ...
I have no empathy any longer for the never ending horrors I witness
and hear about daily.
"Family of 7 killed in horrific highway wreck"
Yeah, sucks to be them.
"More fighting in (insert latest BS conflict here), thousands
homeless"
Yeah, sucks to be them.
I cannot even muster feigned pity.
Today, I watched an episode of a 'cop' show known for it's realism.
One cop shot some dirtbag twice in the knees because he wouldn't lie
down when told.
I laughed so hard I thought I'd cry.
More fun to keep them alive and hurt 'em, thinks me.
It's called "capping". The kneecap explodes and the victim will never
walk properly again. It's also one of the three worst injuries you
can get. Excruciatingly painful.
I have a lot of anger. I always get very over excited when I witness
something like that. Fists clenched and shaking. I yell and applaud
and laugh.
It's easier to enjoy when the person being tortured is supposed to be
a "bad" person. No guilt involved.
Of course, my more evolved self whom I've hogtied and locked in a bird
cage, swings her little fists at me and says "It's WRONG and you KNOW
it!!"
Yet, it's so fucking satisfying.
I dream of it being me.... standing over them while they bleed and
squirm. "Bet that hurt, huh?" I'd say.
So. I can behave in public. I'm unobtrusive and polite.
but I have no feeling for anything or anyone.
Violence gives me relief.
But it's just for watching.
There's fantasy and then there's reality. And reality is a hell of a
lot more scary and painful.
So does that make some one evil?

Think evil, be evil. So far I've got the laugh down pat.

You are having evil thoughts and thus partaking of evil. There is the
potential for evil in every human, so do not think I point a finger at you.
But, yes, these are evil delights you are having. Stop it.

don't say there is a potential for evil in every human because there isn't
any in me

I watched a not so great film once with a good description of evil: it
said very simply, a total empathic failure is required for evil to
take root. Failing to see other human beings as human beings. And I
don't think we are all capable of that.

Don't autistic people have that failure to connect (as well as
sociopaths)?
I don't see how something you have no control over can make you evil -
doesn't it have to be the result of choice?
