twelve 4x4s off the side of the road... we were in a '93 Ford Escort
Wagon.

I drive a 4x4 - it just lets you get stuck a little bit further on :-)
Let me guess, rentals by car driving folk?
They are a very different vehicle to drive, I'd do better
in my 4x4 than a car I feel. It's what one is used to
and understand driving in.
Similar problems here in Australia - tourists who hire
the things, and don't have a clue.

Not good. A friend of mine mentioned that
someone they knew who was bipolar commited
suicide by driving their Landcruiser off a cliff.
That looks like someone did something
stupid without intending to though.
