Object: How to control buying and spending habits
I need to stop buying things that I don't really need and that I can
barely afford. I have put a sticker "Do I need it & can I afford it" on
my PC monitor as a reminder.
Another way to motivate me to spend less is that I need to save more. I
need to pay off debt, save more for retirement, and save for the
unlikely event that I will be able to buy my own home.
An additional benefit of saving more is that it will cause me to pay
less income tax: I pay no tax on the money I put into my 401(k)
retirement account. Tax is deferred to when I withdraw retirement money.
Owning a home would also reduce my income tax.
I will put a second motivational sticker on my PC monitor: Spend less -
Save more - Pay less income tax!

My wife finally took my credit cards away from me and we did a ritual
of cutting them up. We now have just one card for emergencies and
just because you have to have a damn card to buy tickets and rent cars
and so many other things these days.
I was one of the "I want it now" kind of people so I understand this a
lot.

Another way to motivate me to spend less is that I need to save more. I

You know, the government that you ***** so much about has wonderful
progams that could assist you RIGHT NOW in buying a home. Just a
thought....

Remember you have a cap on what you could put into your 401k each
year. Investing in a home would be a good choice. Look into those
government programs from the government that you hate so much and see
the wonderful things that they will do for Amercrapia citizens like
yourself.

Right now, where I live, renting is cheaper than owning a home, if you
have to buy a home at today's prices.

paying a mortgage and paying rent usually costs near the same ,
but with a mortgage you get something for your money , the hard part ,
about buying a home is the initial down payment

what is a typical downpayment, 10% or less? say $10,000 for an $100,000
house. honestly, if someone can't earn and save $10 k, they probably don't
need to be buying a house (or that house at least).

as well as I do there are programs that have nothing to do with the

He's lieing out his ***** right now and he knows it. There are all
kinds of programs available to people no matter what their incomes are
