Howard County Public School Teacher Molested Students & Still Teaching
What do you do when your teacher molested you as a teenager and now
you are an adult who does not want the publciity, but you feel
responsibe to report the abuser? Is there a way of reporting this
teacher anonymously without newspapers getting involved. The teacher
is still teaching in a public school in Howard County, Maryland. What
organizations in Maryalnd can be reported to? Should the victim report
the abuse anyway and say the hell with the public consequences?

Whew, Howard County is awfully close to home.....(DC) I have a 2 yr old
grandson, and the idea of him going to school and having something like that
happen is scary. If it WERE to happen, and then I were to find out that the
school could have been warned and weren't; well, that REALLY scares the hell
out of me. Despite the awful publicity that always follows these
allegations, I think any adult who could report someone like that, should. I
understand how a person would not want to; a very long time ago I was raped,
and I fully understand the desire to just forget it happened. We can't do it
though, there are too many young children who would never have been
molested and traumatized if someone had turned in the molester sooner.
I hope for the sake of the adult that you spoke of there is a way to do it
quietly, but IMO, that person should report it to someone, regardless.

Maybe you could consult a victim's rights lawyer and talk over all the
options so that you're prepared for anything and everything.

If what you say about the teacher is true, then state the facts in a letter
addressed to the head of the school system.
My reasoning is as follows:
1) The school system is also not interested in publicity.
2) But it cannot afford to ignore an accusation such as this. Any letter
written to the head of the school system containing such an allegation would
be discoverable. If the school system sat on its hands and later got sued
on account of new conduct by the teacher that it might have prevented had it
acted on your letter, heads would roll, and the school system would be out
of pocket big-time for damages.
3) Therefore, my guess is that the school system would act quietly to
investigate the teacher, that it would probably not find anything that would
entitle it to fire the teacher, but that, nevertheless, it would provide
inducements to him/her to resign.
