Once again Republican religious nut-job trying to bring us smaller
government. Complete with frightening nut-job video.

I sure wish there was a country I could flee to to escape religious
persecution that believed in something like, perhaps, a separation of
church and state.

When he talks about "God's standards" does he mean old testament God
or new testament God? Cos there's a big bloody difference! Or is it,
as I suspect, just a clarion call the the witless, the deluded and the
wilfully ignorant?
I recently watched Penn & Teller's Bible ***** and some of those
protesting against the removal of a statue to the ten commandments in
the governor's office, I think it was, put Georgie-boy to shame with
their ignorance and bible-bashing gullibility.

For that matter which translation? Have you read any of the new bibles
they're printing these days in "every day" language to indoctrinate young
parishioners?
Even being the willful anti-christian I am I've read several passages from
the new translation and they've completely missed the obvious points the
good ole' King James was trying to get across.

Thankfully not, I've got enough works of fiction around here that I
haven't managed to get round to reading without adding another that
doesn't even tell an interesting story. I've heard the lead character
is rather one dimensional.

The last time I spoke to a theologian, he recommended the Revised
Standard Version as the most accurate Bible. It's in modern English, and
is a re-translation.

Pandering should be a crime.

Teaching creationism in school is just fine... as soon as someone actually
writes a theory of creationism that can withstand peer review... or, for
that matter, at all.
Of course creationists are talking about the christian god and not an
unknown god so they fail scrutiny right there suggesting they know, not
only what created the universe but who... how do they know it's not the
flying spaghetti monster?
A hypothesis does not a theory make... and creationism could barely be
called a hypothesis.

It is fundamental to scientific theories that they generate hypotheses,
which may be tested and found to be in error. To be science, you have to
be able to show errors, to disprove. Creationism knows the answers, and
nothing can be disproven, without conflicting with the Bible. It is a
religious theory, not a scientific one, and should only be taught as
religion (we have religious studies classes over here), not science.
Schools should teach scientific disbelief, if only so that people don't
fall for a used-car sellers spiel. If in doubt, test it. It's not a test
if there's only one possible outcome.
