For simple stuff like playing a DVD it's easy. There's a lot of extra
stuff in there like making a streaming server and such, but you can just
ignore that.

One of the cool things I like in it is (with a fast enough connection)
you can stream videos to the internet or a LAN. So I can start a movie
in the front room, and take my laptop into the bedroom and watch it from
there.

i'll mostly just want it for play back ,
i hope my CPU is good enough ,

It should be. I've got a PentiumII 266MHz with 128MB RAM and I can watch
DVDs on it. That new RAM you've got should help it out a lot.

Yea, I wouldn't worry about skipping much. DVD players themselves don't
have much power.

I do that too, and then I connect the video out to a TV, and then use a
bluetooth keyboard to skip past all the commercials
