Object: I always knew
.... if a catastrophe happened and I died in it, no one would care.
Enduring two hurricanes has brought the fact home in a big way. It
is not a pleasant reality. I haven't been suicidal in a long time.
It seems irrational. People are seriously suffering out there, I'm
totally sympathetic to their plight. They didn't do anything to
deserve their losses. I'm a big waste of space, but I still have a
place to live. Something seems wrong here.
I'm getting older, sicker, lonelier and more bitter. Oh well.

Some kinds of storm can make people feel very miserable and depressed; if
you're Depressed to begin with, the effect will just be that much worse.
If you came through the storm better than some other people, that's all it
means; you were lucky.
(Beats me why anyone would want to live in Florida anyway, hot swamps with
annual hurricanes hardly sound like prime residential material, but
there's no accounting for taste).
I'm glad you are OK.
