Wow, I do. I have a fear of them, but if i was in your shoes, I'd
probably overcome it. I've discovered that I was drinking a diet soda,
and had to throw up. Something about my tongue being fooled into
thinking it's getting something sweet, when it's really not. It's a
mental deal.
Trivia: I remember when they banned a particular sweetener in this
country Oh yeah, it was called 'cyclimates'. Me and a friend had to
pour out 200 quarts of soda, per order of his mother. 1970 or so.

I seem to remember that many, many years later, subsequent studies showed no
link at all to cancer. Today cyclamate is approved as a sweetener in more
than 55 countries. They banned it here for nothing.

on the original cyclamate study that showed it to be a
carcinogen, they used a combination of cyclamates and
saccharine, since everyone knew that saccharine was safe. it
turned out to be the saccharine that caused the increase in
cancer, but by then cyclamates were banned and it was easiest to
just keep them banned.

It's interesting that saccharine is still used in Sweet 'n Low but
cyclamates are still banned.

I thought saccharin was still used, probably not. I remember going to
the Courtesy desk 15 years ago and returning iced cream bars I'd just
bought, because they had nutri-sweet in them. I said it would give me
bladder cancer. One of them has been banned for some form of cancer
in rats. Those rats like diet pepsi.

There used to be a fast food place here about ten years ago called

you can still get saccharine. that's what sweet 'n low, the

I think Tab still has saccharine and your toothpaste probably does too.
I'm a fan of the "Tom's Of Maine" toothpaste - although it takes some
getting used to. It doesn't "coagulate" in your spit (best description I
can think of).
