Object: I hate nights
Night shifts, that is... This is my week for night shifts. Some people
like 'em. Some people choose to do them all the time. I wouldn't. I
hate 'em. Actually, it's not the shifts themselves so much as having to
hang around at home through the day. I should be able to go to work,
concentrate on that, come home, go to sleep, wake up and go to work. If I
could do THAT that'd be part of the battle, I reckon.
While I'm at home I think about things. I don't like thinking. I think
about why things've worked out the way they have, and why some things
haven't worked out at all. I wonder about my house and whether I'm ever
going to get moved into it, and then I wonder what I'll do when I have.
Sit in it, no doubt.
Maybe I could go out and actually DO things? See people. But, rubbish
though it sounds, I just can't summon up the interest. What could I do?
Go for walks? It'd only mean I spent time thinking. Maybe I should go to
the cinema or something? Well, yeah, but all that'd really mean is that
I'm going to the cinema on my own. Maybe I should go bowling, or learn
basket weaving?
Maybe I should just get another job, so I can be working all the time...
Gods, isn't it PATHETIC?

Just like DeNiro in "Taxi Driver", "I just wanna work long
hours".
Men feel unhappy when they're bored. You could try working
longer hours if you feel like it, it will get you more money and
maybe you can improve.

i used to like night shifts. nice and quiet, bosses not looking
over my shoulder. then, i can sleep anytime it's convenient,
which helps.
btw, there are advantages to being out and about when other
people are working. cinema prices are really low for the
matinees. i do that sometimes, just to see a really cheap movie
in an empty theater. also, shopping is much easier when the
stores aren't so crowded and salespeople have the time to talk
to you. and as for exercise, you can walk when the sun is
shining or go into an almost empty gym for a workout.
i don't think i could do it now, though, even if i weren't too
disabled to work. my depression is much worse at night. there's
no way i could get anything done on a night shift now.
good luck with the work.
