I have never understood why it's against the law to kill myself, and I
know it is after I was tossed into jail for attempting to jump off the
roof of a 30 story building. I was so close too. I got drunk and
managed to get to the roof of this downtown hotel. The door was
locked to the roof, and that's the only reason I did not succeed. I
was kicking the door and had busted a big crack in it when the cops
came. I was arrested, handcuffed, fingerprinted, and tossed in jail.
WHY? I am not a criminal? I just wanted to die. Well, OK, I busted
their door, but if they would have left it unlocked for people like
me, then I would not break it. The next day I was taken to a mental
hospital and had to see all kinds of psychiatrists and other people
who seemed much crazier than myself. I told the police right out that
I wanted to die, but I refused to talk to those psyk. people in the
hospital. No matter what they asked, I just said "get fucked", or
"*****". I ended up staying in that hospital for a week until I
was released (probably because I refused to say anything except "get
fucked, and because I had no insurance). Once again I was back in the
real world looking for other ways to die. They solved nothing, they
just pumped me full of drugs, which I was supposed to take after I was
released, but I threw them away because they made me feel worse.

I do NOT have a right to kill other people or any other creatures.
Doing this SHOULD be against the law of the land.

But, killing myself is totally my right. I own my body, and have a
right to destroy it if I want. Laws against suicide are just plain
assenine. Forcing a person to LIVE, despite their desire to die, is
much more cruel than allowing one to destroy themselves and get it
over.

Sure, I understand that they would have had to clean up my splattered
dead body off the sidewalk if I had jumped, but the cost of that would
have been much less than even one day in the psyk hospital. So dont
tell me its because of the cost to society. Hell, one public servant
who gets paid minimum wage, with a shovel could scoop the remains of
my body into a garbage truck in less than an hour. Plus, a cop would
have to come and fill out a piece of paper.... What's the total cost
of that? $20 maybe.

Next time I will succeed, because I will kill myself where there are
no other people around. The only problem is there are no deserted 30
story buildings. If our society made any sense, there would be places
where people could go to do suicide. They would be out in the middle
of nowhere, and would have a tall building free to use to freely jump
to our deaths. They would have other devices there, and everyone
would know that people going there were going there for one reason.

Instead we live in a society where it's illegal to commit suicide, and
where those of us desiring our deaths must continue to suffer.
