i have all these books from the 70's |
that i have been re-reading. all about eckankar. eckankar billed
itself as the ancient science of soul travel and the author, paul
twitchell was exposed as a fraud during the late 80's.
twitchell supposedly plagiarized most of the stuff he wrote. he took
a bunch of religious and philosophical writings, glommed them
together and claimed authorship.
i havent looked at any of these books since i first got them from a
girlfriend way back when. i read them because she was into a
bunch of esoteric stuff, she liked astrology and reading tarot cards,
and reading them was my ticket into her pants.
anyway, i found them in a box about a month ago and i have been
re-reading them. discounting the fraud and the plagiarism, there
are some real jewels and wisdom in those books. which i guess
can be expected if it's just an amalgam of long-standing
philosophies.
one of the things that jumped out at me was twitchell's views on
quantum physics. he wrote some things about quantum physics
that were not even posited as theories until the mid-90's. not by
any physicists, anyway. and some of the things he expounded
upon were not written about in any professional journals until well
after his death. given that twitchell had no science background, he
was remarkably intuitive for a layperson.
in any case, i dont know if there is anything to soul travel or
multiple planes of existence, but i do know that i have enjoyed
going back and reading these books again.
anyone else here familiar with eckankar?
