Object: I have to clean my apartment today
Outdoors, the air is unbreathable because of soot and ash from the recent
wildfires. Walking the short distance between my parked car and the
drugstore yesterday was enough to make me cough.
Indoors, the air is full of allergens. I need to get rid of all the dust and
mold.
I started yesterday. I cleaned the freezer and refrigerator thoroughly for
the first time in years.
Here are the highest priority cleaning tasks for today:
1. Wash moldy shower curtain. Wear mask with HEPA filter while handling
shower curtain.
2. Vacuum apartment. Wear mask with HEPA filter while vacuuming.
3. Clean kitchen sink and counters. Wear mask with vapor filter to protect
against fumes from household cleaners.
Tomorrow:
1. Do laundry, including sheets and pillowcases.

I find that you don't need to use any detergent for this, just bleach
and setting the washing machine on hot.

I'm not sure at what temperature my shower curtain will melt, so I'll wash
it in warm water, with detergent (I don't have any bleach).

Martin, think about this for a minute. It has rained since the fires.
Rather a lot. The air here is crystal clear today. Against the
conviction in your mind, I offer a word from someone who means you no
harm. We apparently live close enough together to share common air, if
we define "common" as that between, say, Pomona and Palm Springs. Be of
good cheer.

No, it hasn't rained much in the San Diego area since then. In general, it
rains *much less* here than in the Los Angeles area.

The air today, according to the County of San Diego Air Pollution District,
is in the "Moderate" range, slightly better than yesterday. On Thanksgiving
Day, the air was "Unhealthful for sensitive persons", and if I remember
correctly, "Unhealthful" in some areas.

My mistake. I had you up against the San Bernardino Mountains. You
really should use bleach for mold.

I've heard that if your pillow is more than a few years old, 10% of its
weight is from dust mites and their fecal matter.

Now you're gonna get him wearing a mask to bed too.
