Object: I have to sort things out
Pay the bills, find the insurance policies, that sort of stuff. Keep my
options open - I should do it anyway. Tidy things up, just in case.

The opinions given above may be mine. They might also
just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?

Alan, sounds like it's hospital time. Please.

Things are better now, worse than this time last night, but much better
than last night and this morning. If I can wake up normally this time,
maybe that'll be the end of it. Only I'll have another plan - it's out
in the country, lots of fresh air.

I'm tempted to go there for a look see - it's been decades since I've
been there. It's an SSSI, so it won't have changed.

What's an SSSI?

Site of special scientific interest. It's got alpine plants left behind
when the glaciers retreated for the last time in the Ice Age. The
nearest other place is Switzerland. Actually, that may be the only other
place.

Oh, wow. Sounds like an interesting place. I live right by a
penninsula in a reservoir that's closed to the public so that
scientists can run studies there. They started opening it to
hunters once a year by lottery because the deer population had
boomed and was starving, but you need some kind of permit to
set foot there. I've been lucky enough to take part in two
studies there, one on gypsy moth caterpillars, one on Eastern
coyote behavior. I hope that's not the last time I'll be
there.

Alan, is your wife still in London? She'd likely get in

could call yourself? Don't let this descend into something

My wife's downstairs waiting for the year to tick over. I'm going to
bed. It'll pass, it always does. It must be ten years since I've felt
that bad. I'm really tired, so I should be able to sleep.

I do. Lower than usual, but not by much. Nothing to do today but make
coffee and drink it. I remembered to take my morning pills, and I'm
using my SAD light, so I'm doing what I can. I'll put some music on next

I don't listen to the Eagles often (I did, though, when I was
