i just happened upon... |
i sat down at the computer about 30 minutes ago to look up "wheezing cough"
on google because i have had a cough for the last 7 to 8 weeks, and now it's
beginning to have a wheezing quality to it, especially after i ride my
exercise bike. anyway, as i was looking through the results of my search, i
happened upon a man's blog. he has ALS (lou gehrigs disease). his blog
begins with him not yet knowing his diagnosis, but undergoing many tests. i
could not stop reading it. i knew it would lead to him finding out he had
ALS because the page google first led me to was todays blog. i quickly
realized his blog originally began before he knew his diagnosis, so i went
back and started at the beginning. i feel so sad for this man...he has a
lovely wife and 2 very young children, and in 2003 he was told he would be
dead within 3 to 5 years. he has greatly declined in the past 3 years, but
he is still blogging away. and he has such an awesome attitude. but yet,
there is that underlying sadness there because he knows he will be dying
soon. and leaving his kids. he and his wife are constantly making videos
for the children and such so that they'll always be able to remember him,
but it just seems so cruel that he is to be taken away from them. they
won't really ever remember him as someone who picked them up and played with
them. they'll only really remember him as being terribly ill, and the
youngest one will barely have memories of him at all.
it broke my heart to read his story. to know it's real and not just a tv
movie. a real family and not just people acting.
sometimes we do not realize how very blessed we really are...

I don't have anything to say other than to say I felt the sadness at the
story too.

I never know whether to feel blessed, or red-faced angry at the universe for
being so malicious and cruel.

That's what Stephen Hawking suffers from, although we call it motor
neuron disease.

He's as big in physics today as Einstein was in his day.

He isn't a quadriplegic, he has Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's
disease.) Pretty long lived as far as that disease goes also.
I hope he lives long along to make a name for himself other than a best
selling book. His most important work has since been trashed, and he is
working furiously to show that he has in mind a better disproving of his
earlier incorrect theory (i.e. that information is lost in black holes)
than other physicists.
As it turns out, information is not irrevocably lost in a black hole. So if
you ever fall into one, just stay calm. You can still be resurrected once
God gets off his *****, or man develops the technology.
