Object: I made it!
Finished my last bit of paperwork today. Tomorrow (Friday) I go in and
tool around until drinks time and then a bunch of us are hitting the
pub. Then five weeks of well earned rest.
The good thing about hitting yourself on the head with a hammer is that
it feels so good when you stop!
So that's my first year of teaching under my belt. They say the first
year is the worst... of course 'they' could be lying.

Congratulations Glen! You've accomplished so much and inspired me while
doing it. This has been an amazing year for you and I want to say thanks
for sharing it with us. You did it! Yay you!

Hey, Glenn, congratulations. It's been
inspiring to watch you take a chance on
this adventure and, especially, to see
you enjoy it, grow with it, and to be
teaching folks something worth learning
-- i.e. based on real world experience.
Have a restful time with your family
while you catch your breath, eh?

Why thankyou Gayle. It has been a rollercoaster ride. I have a long
list of home maintenance jobs needing my attention but I am actually
looking forward to it. Good old manual labour with my brain free to
just wander.
The boat has been glaring at me lately because I haven't had it out for
weeks. So, killing fish is definitely on the agenda.
Mostly it will be about sleeping in and not washing properly. I never
thought I would miss that!
I hope you are well.

That has to feel good. My reaction was a little more gushy: THAT IS
SO AWESOME!
Ah, yes. Well.
I hope your wife has a satisfactory time in Holland, and the time away
will make her anxious to get back home to you. Cheers.

Next thing you know you'll be nominated for Teacher of the Year!
But the acid test is this: will they have you back next year, and will you
return?
In other news, did the boys get a visit from Sinterklaas this year?

More like, Teacher Who Survived The Year!
I was too scared to ask if they wanted me back. I thought I would just
show up and see if my office still has my name on the door.
We don't do Sinterklaas. They have been remodeled into good little
kiwis and we will be celebrating on the 25th like normal people.
This year Judith won't be with us as she is going back to Holland for
christmas. So it's all up to Papa. The kids don't mind too much because
with me in charge they will be getting cool presents and not sensible
socks and underwear.
It will be a bit weird without her. First time in 16 years...
