it's the dying ones that really get to me. or, rather, the ones that
could crash at any second. it's just really stressful.
i spent tuesday and wednesday night that way. tuesday was a cat that
was 3/4 of the way dead already from kidney failure but the people
didn't want to put it to sleep yet. wednesday was a dog with severe
bleeding issues who could crash and bleed out at any second and there
would be basically nothing i could do, depending on what happened.
(she was ok overnight though thank goodness).
i hope tonight is quiet!!!!

Why is that (seriously)?

Why is that (seriously)?
i work nights as a vet tech, so i'm the only person in the hospital
and any very sick and/or dying critters there are my sole
responsibility. there is always a doctor i can call if something
happens, but it's still up to me to do whatever needs to be done.
sometimes i just don't feel capable enough to be holding these animals
lives in my hands.

I knew you were doing the vet tech thing, but didn't know it was at night.
From what I know of you, you are extremely capable and caring, but caring
can be difficult and draining too. Be gentle with yourself, you are doing
some very good things with your work. I know I'd trust you with my Oreo.
Will you have an opportunity to move to days at some point? For me, it
would be nearly impossible to work nights for very long. It's the way I'm
wired. And the to do what you have to do would be tough. I admire your
strength and conviction a lot.
