That's a lot of what I've been saying without actually saying it.
Some of us are listening/reading/interested/stirred/amused or
whatever verb/adverb is right for the occasion. So maybe that's
the point. Don't quote me on this though.

There isn't a point. There isn't a point to anything. We do what we do
because we enjoy it or because we're afraid of not doing it. Which ever of
those two reasons dominates is a reflection of the kind of society one lives
in.
