I went out shooting today. Photos for an album cover. I'm so tired it
isn't funny. IF we weren't using digital I would have gone through 6 rolls
of film. But digital cameras are wonderful for that. We got 1/2 doz that
will work on the album, another 12 that were just very good shots... and a
whole lot of soso shots. :s ... I'd prefer to use film myself. But he
wanted instant results without the hassles of processing/scanning. *shrugS*
.... So hopefully soon, you can find my name on the back of that cover.
Cheers

But a project done well must be very satisfying - and you seem to have found
further inspiration too :))

Yes, it was good. I'll post the photos on my webpage when they are prepped
(smaller in size) and once they've also gone through photoshop for some
alterations (filters). I'm not doing the photoshop work, that's being done
by the guy that watned the shots. He does his own graphics work too. So
I'll leave that to him. :D

Whose cover? The albumn cover for our band was of us sitting around on grave
stones, (since our band's name was "Stone Garden".)
But then we never got it produced. One of our members went to prison for
being the big drug pusher of the town, and two others got drafted and went to
Vietnam. So that was the end of our band.

It is for a new band that is producing its CD now. The members of the
band were cutting their own tracks when a record company heard one of the
tunes. They liked it and approached my friends to produce it.
My friend has his own 24 ch multi-track in his home. He's a rather
talented fellow. He plays bass, lead guitar, keyboards. The CD is gothic
industrial.
The shots of the female lead singer were done in a 500+ year old Scottish
graveyard. The shots of my friend were done here in Vancouver - in the
pits of Hell.
The back alleys of Main and Hastings - an area known as Blood Alley for
all the OD's that happen there. VERY HEAVY drug area. Hardly a day goes
by when another junkie doesn't make it through the day. We went down
early to avoid most of the party. But even at 11 am they were rockin'.
Showers and a sage smudge were a necessity to clean up after leaving
there. I still smell it. :s
He wanted to show that Vancouver isn't just a green place of life and
nature. I also know that he loves industrial landscapes. A couple of the
areas were perfect for his tastes.
I want to go back down there with my own camera and just shoot the
backdrops that we took yesterday. Graffiti covered walls, plants (ferns)
hanging onto life on the side of a building, steel bars / razor wire /
wrought iron fencing were just some of the highlights of the artistic
elements. Though I'd rather go down there with someone else. It's not a
place for the faint of heart, nor for someone travelling alone with
expensive camera equipment. We were left alone for the most part, and
most of the people that approached us were just interested in music. He
was carrying his own self / hand made electric guitar.
Anyhow, it was a good day. :D It was topped off by dinner at a cool lil
pub and a few beers.
