Since every analysis I've read suggests that Bush has done very little
to counter terrorism (and a lot to encourage people to become
terrorists), I'd want him to win, rather than someone who might do
something.

What's my motivation? That is to say, why am I a terrorist and what has
the president of the USA to do with it, and do I want to be a terrorist
for the fun of it or would I much rather have my grievances given a fair
hearing and settlement?
(I don't think the term 'terrorist' has one absolute meaning anyway, a
great deal depends on ones point of view. cf 'freedom fighter', 'maquis',
'resistance', 'psychopath', 'mercenary soldier', 'crusader', 'invader',
'peace-keeper', ...).

That's the problem.
I think you're all right. It would be GW.
I would put it not quite for the reasons you've cited, though they're all
good. I'd say it would be GW because what they are looking for is a fight,
a war, not a retreat to the status quo, but the undoing of that.
In any event, how to influence American politics to achieve the end of GW's
election, if you're a terrorist, is the next question.
And the answer, I'm afraid, is more Beslans.
This is becoming a very ugly world.

Bush doesn't seem to have any regard for the environment. I've not heard

Bush. He's the best recruiting tool for terrorist groups among our current
crop of candidates. He can be counted on for his belligerent machismo and
continued invasions and occupations of Muslim nations (remember that Iran is
next on the list -even as things in Iraq and Afghanistan go increasingly
fubar).

I thought everyone knew that the Holy Grail was at Glastonbury, burial
place of King Arthur. That's why the Glastonbury Festival is so
successful each year, despite the rain and mud. Hundreds of thousands of
people, each seeking their own musical holy grail.

I see you've fallen for the English propaganda. Arthur was British, and
spent his free time fighting the Anglo-Saxons, who became the English a
couple of centuries later. He's supposed to awake when Britain (i.e.
Celtic Britain) is under threat. This says a lot about their fate under
the supposed yoke of English rule.

The 'English' are still about as 'British' as the 'Celtic' nations of
Britain. But yes, Arthur is not 'English'.
Drake, though, does lie asleeping down below, to be awakened by the
beating of his drum in *England's* darkest hour. I'm not sure that his
drum would take much beating now though, after 400 years. Unless the
stone and concrete one in Plymouth would be an acceptable substitute (if
the council haven't demolished it along with so much else from the
post-war reconstruction).

They are now, but I don't know another term for those who fought for

never mention the Jutes.

I'm not convinced that there was a numerically overwhelming "invasion" by
Jutes etc; some migration, certainly, but maybe not as much as has
traditionally been thought. (I understand Sandi Toksvig comes from
Jutland, so the migration isn't finished yet).
Have you seen the first two episodes (out of four) of the history
series "Britain AD: King Arthur's Britain"? (Ch 4 Mondays 9PM).

At least what I do know is that lately the US pressure has been on Iran -
for alleged nukes and for alleged involvement with Iraqi insurgents.
As for the holy grail (aka weapons of mass destruction), I'm guessing we'll
never find it. About a year and a half ago, folks like me were saying that
nothing good could come from initiating a war based on lies. Sadly, the last
year and a half has delivered plenty of ugliness.
