Stop drop and roll. Air marshalls are the reason I don't go on planes.
From what I see on the news, air marshalls and schizophrenics don't mix.

i loved to fly as a kid and teen, but in my adult years, i have found that
it causes me quite alot of panic. i feel like i'm in a giant sardine can.
it doesn't help that the wings bounce all the time, and the bolts inside the
plane look as if they are about to pop loose any second.

I know they're constantly rebuilding or replacing the engines and
maintenance on all the working guts is pretty sophistocated. But the
run down conditions inside planes makes me uncomfortable.
And do they still have to announce you can't smoke? I think we get
the point by now.

when they first made commercial jets, the heels of women's shoes
would puncture the floor, as the metal was very thin to conserve
weight. they're built much sturdier now than they used to be.
and, afaik, it's still the safest way to travel.
i try to compare the inside of a plane with a taxi. the plane
wins, hands down.

heh...this reminds me of something my pappaw always used to say about flying
(which he never did because he feared it so much)...in his best negro
dialect (he was from alabama, so he did this alot), he would say, "when you
has an accident in a car, there you is...but when you has an accident in an
airplane, where is you?"
:) i miss that man. he was so funny.

It's also the only method where you face a 6 minute freefall in a

Kind of sit back and contemplate your demise situation. Pretty

my hubby worked for FedEx for years, and used to "jumpseat" alot when we
were in memphis. he flew all over the country that way. he loved sitting
behind and talking with the pilots, most of whom used to be military pilots
and had plenty of fascinating stories to tell.

and a cop draws his weapon on you ,

what do you do

Stop drop and roll. Air marshalls are the reason I
don't go on planes. From what I see on the news, air
marshalls and schizophrenics don't mix.

i have never flown in my life ,
partly out of fear ,
partly just cause i got no where to fly to ,
and the one time i did try ,
that's how i found out ,
i'm not allowed to enter the US ,
so i had to sneak in on a bus

i love to fly. the smaller the plane the better. little
planes are like sports cars or motorcycles compared to
jumbo jets, which are more like busses.

i loved to fly as a kid and teen, but in my adult years,
i have found that it causes me quite alot of panic. i
feel like i'm in a giant sardine can. it doesn't help
that the wings bounce all the time, and the bolts inside
the plane look as if they are about to pop loose any
second.

when i was in my early teens, my father got a pilot's
license and we got a 6 seater plane for the family. i went
with him for his lessons, and we used to fly places most
weeks, if only out to brunch or dinner. we also made long
trips, like to new orleans at christmas time. i even took
some glider lessons. i miss it badly.

well, it's no wonder you enjoy it then. you have seen it
from every perspective.

i sat next to a fedex pilot on a flight about a year ago. he
had great stories.

did he happen to tell ya the one about the disgruntled employee who
jumpseated and decided to hijack the FedEx plane and use it to crash back
into memphis intn'l airport? turns out that the pilot was a retired fighter
jet pilot, and he put that plane thru some crazy moves that most jumbojets
aren't designed for in order to knock the hijacker off his feet and keep him
from carrying out his plan. it was awesome. my hubby got to look at the
plane shortly after this happened. he said it's a miracle the thing stayed
in the air after what the pilot put it thru. it's a great story. we still
have a newspaper clipping of it in our scrap book.
