Yes, or they can develop naturally typically in the leg, I think its
called thrombosis and you need to take it somewhat seriously (common
in sedentary office workers). There is a very slight risk of the clot
dislodging and causing a stroke, I had a close friend that had a clot
in the leg...you can't fly or exert yourself physically for several
weeks plus meds. I'll go research it quickly to make sure this is
correct.

hee hee....a sedentary office worker, i ain't! ;-) i teach preschoolers
hunny...i'm on my feet all day!

There is a very slight risk of the clot
dislodging and causing a stroke,

that's the part that is actually worrying me.

i just didn't know if a clot could form from a nasty, deep bruise caused by
an injury.

Sorry for scaring you. You're scaring me, u2b!
I don't know why it would be throbbing after 2 weeks unless you had a
fairly serious injury. I'm wondering if you could have a fracture; or
if the skin was broken during the injuring, it could be an infection.
Throbbing is associated with inflammation, but why would it be inflamed
if you didn't sustain an open wound or a bone fracture. I'm not a
doctor, so you better go to one and get an answer for my questions.
I'll be waiting. Thanx. Boosh

yeah, k4k suggested something like that as well. this isn't that because it
started with an injury.

Did you injure the area, or did it just appear? I have varicose veins,
and I had a nasty bout with phlebitis last spring. You should have a
Doc take a look at it.

it's turned from dark black and purple to lovely shades of green and yellow
now. it is still painful and throbs even and there is still quite a lump
there even though it's been nearly 2 weeks ago. it's on the side of my
thigh and i got it by misjudging where a metal bar was as i was stepping
down out of a vehicle, and i walked right smack into it.

U2B, The green and yellow means the bruise is resolving and clearing,
but the pain and throbbing means there is something else going on. It
really would require an in-person assessment by a doc. Don't wait
