impressions of fahrenheit 9/11 (ot; politics) |
I watched Fahrenheit 9/11. I think it mostly showed a true picture of
9/11, the Afghanistan war, and the Iraq war, except that it left out the
important fact that the Israeli lobby influenced the decision to start a
war against Iraq (maybe Michael Moore is Jewish; he does look like a Jew).
The US politicians in general, and Bush and his supporters in
particular, were shown as dishonest, lying, and morally corrupt, which
is true. It was pointed out that the Iraq war was justified with lies:
"weapons of mass destruction" that didn't exist, and a connection to Al
Qaeda that also didn't exist. It was shown how countless Iraqi civilians
and a significant number of US soldiers have been killed or injured in
the war. Interestingly, only one congressperson has a child in the US
armed forces. Most of the US military is recruited from the poor and
uneducated.
My conclusion: the US political system is corrupt and not truly
democratic. There is little anybody can do about it, so I may as well be
selfish. If I can profit from the wars, I will do so. I'll support the
winning side, for maximum personal gain.

wheras you know the truth, but can't be assed to make a film of it, i
suppose?
Just pick up one of Moore's books, and
thoroughly crosscheck the numbers he uses.
(don't go to any of those wehatemichaelmoore.com
webpages either, they are even less reliable
than Moore himself).
