Well, I don't have jugs, but I did get the other stuff you told me
about for my alcoholic consumption. As for the other, I'm workin on it.
Still could use help introducing myself to someone here--BTW, drove past

Ambien, according to the US regs 10mg is the highest dose, europe allows
20mg...but I routinely go up to 40mg. Have gone up to probably around 70mg.
It can get kind of trippy, like mild visual psychedlic stuff at those doses.
You won't be awake long enough to enjoy the pretty colors though. It's one
of those drugs that's damn near impossible to OD on (w/o help from other
drugs) although I'm a big guy too. 6'4" and 220lbs is a much different mg/kg
ratio to consider. I don't suggest these doses, but I take them. The doc has
to write an exemption for them to fill a dose over the "suggested amount"
but he's not concerned about 30mg.
Also seroquel works pretty well for keeping asleep. It hits a lot of the
spots that benadryl does, but you don't develop tolerance. 25mg is a pretty
decent dose for me - but it's the "stay asleep" drug. 50mg is a real
asskick. I'm told that higher doses start losing this effect but I have yet
to try them. It also takes at least 30 minutes to begin to have any effect
and doesn't actually put me to sleep very well.
Most of the time I just use ambien to fall asleep, I don't often have
trouble staying asleep so the seroquel isn't often brought out.

The dr that prescribed the cymbalta & klonopin doesn't know I'm taking
Ambien, so I can't get a higher quantity without getting in trouble
Will be seeing a new dr up here for the first time in a month or
two--won't know how liberal he/she will be about meds. Haven't gone beyond
10 mg of Ambien, cause I have to worry about refilling too soon
I'm just preparing to become more demanding (in a nice, cooperative way)

Should have said am onCymbalta., Klonopin at night, Xanax as needed, but
almost always every night, and have been using Ambien.
I do have a mild sleep disorder, kind of mini seizure activity, hence the
klonopin.

Some antidepressants can help. Usually for me those types of sleep aids
only last for a week or so.
Should have said am onCymbalta., Klonopin at night, Xanax as needed, but
almost always every night, and have been using Ambien.
I do have a mild sleep disorder, kind of mini seizure activity, hence
the klonopin.

dunno about the efficacy of xanax as a hypnotic, but it's a nasty benzo
klonopin is a good anxiolytic but not a good hypnotic either
lunesta and sonata did nothing for me, but they work for some people, not

Franz, Cymbalta is Lilly's new anti-depressant. Not a blockbuster from
what I have heard.

Yea, I knew it was an anti-dep, an SSRI right?
They don't do a damn thing for me so I've just ignored the whole market.
Wasn't it an offshoot of some other drug? I wanna say celexa.

Franz - looks like a new drug. It is dual action - it inhbits reuptake
of serotonin (SSRI) and also norepinephrine (SNRI). So it's Branded and
therefor expensive.Analysts are forecasting peak annual sales of $2
billiion.
Celexa is the Brand name of citalopram, an SSRI inhibitor like Prozac,
Paxil, Zoloft and Luvox.I don't believe Celexa is available in a
generic form either, but could be wrong.

I haven't paid attention to that class of drugs for a while now. They don't
work for me, unless the goal is to make me sweat a lot and cause a penis to
become a decorative item.
I tried effexor for a while, "interesting" side-effects and withdrawal
symptoms but nothing else.

I don't know if you have the freedom to do this, but I stay up
essentially all night (went to bed at 8:15 am this morning) and sleep
during the day. I get enough sleep, unless someone calls or rings the
doorbell or whatever, and I'm not really depressed when I wake up.
Funny, I am usually a "morning person," arising around 4 am to 5 am. Go
figger.
When I sleep a "normal" shift, say starting 10 pm to midnite, if I'm
tired enough I will fall asleep quickly (have to be really tired) and
sleep through the night, but when I wake up and am depressed and can't
get out of bed. "Leaden legs" is what that's called I believe. But I
will lie there for 2 to 3 hours feeling very down and unable to get out
of bed (except to void, following which I promptly fall back into bed.
I truly hate that, and have been playing with my sleep cycles for a few
weeks now. Awake for the night shift, sleep during the day has worked
best so far and my therapist says "whatever works." I think I'll be
continuing that for the foreseeable future, until things change again.
Somehow this depression and recent stressors have thrown my sleep cycle
way off. Maybe it will adjust back. You can get a lot done during the
night, as it turns out.
Other factors may prevent you from trying this, but I was pleasantly
surprised by the improvement in my sleep after only a couple of days.
Once I get up, I'm ok from a sleepy standpoint until the next morning.
I still get just as physically exhausted, but not sleepy all the time.
I've found this has helped cognitive and memory issues a bit as well -
not resolved them, but helped. My therapist is always emphasizing the
importance of getting enough of the right type of sleep. I find I am
remembering my dreams better - they are more vivid and "interesting."
Your mileage may vary, but I've gone from early bird to night owl with
good effect.

I am more of a night owl, going to bed between midnight & 2 AM. I don't have
a job, so I guess it really doesn't matter, but I really want a "normal"
sleep schedule, I just don't want to sleep all day, especially since I'm
trying to connect to the neighbors around me (I just moved here recently) I
have other problems other than insomnia.
I just want to come across as normal as possible which means modifying my
behavior and phobias, taking the right meds, and making an effort to take
more risks
Until then, I depend on my meds. If not, i'll go psycho without sleep-it's
happened before
Anyway, thanks for your input

Hahahaha BTDT.

For me it's the exact opposite.
I shouldn't really be in this thread, the concept of insomnia is
totally alien to me, the bizarrest thing is that stimulating drugs
such as Effexor and caffeine and even amphetamine sulphate seem to
help me sleep . . . "sleeping pills" are somewhat redundant,
nitrazepam worked quite well when I was in hospital, temazepam at the
lowest dose pole-axed me for about 18 hours, on Demerol I was scarcely
awake at all . . .
I'm not helping much am I? <G>

Well, you just have a different experience. If I had my way ("I would tear
this ole building down"-sorry, a Dead song came to mind)--forget if I had my
way
Soon, I'll be seing a new dr and maybe we'll just toss all sleeping pills,
benzos and all other new stuff that i don't know about (working for a dr
facilitates self medication, but got laid off, so won't have that option any
more), just shake all the pills up and take a few every night. Some combo

Yeah that's the frustrating thing about medicine, it's supposed to be
a science but it don't necessarily do what it says on the packet.
