Interesting day. |
The morning was pretty much as usual,, nothing interesting about it till
I couldn't stand waiting around any longer and set off early for my
psych appointment.
I arrived early, to find him running late, as he had to get a translator
to deal with the patient before me. I started on the book I'd taken with
me, 'just in case', at about eleven forty-five.
When I got in, we went through the 'How are you, I see you were down at
the last session with my assistant'. Down? <Maniacal laughter>
Anyway, we got that out of the way and then we went over the graphs he'd
plotted of my mood since 1994 - a pronounced dip every winter, with dips
in between, and periods of rapid cycling thrown in, when I wouldn't know
from hour to hour where my mood was headed next.
So, back on the lithium, as well as the lamotrogine for now. And, after
doing the CBT, I get to try talk therapy - I may even get a letter about
the possibility of having an appointment within three weeks. The letter,
that is, not the appointment.
And I finished the book about five forty-five, even with an hour when I
couldn't do any reading! Five hours to read a whole book! I'm amazed.
Definitely an interesting day. I have the whole evening to make up for
it.

just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?

I was yesterday ready to go and see my family doctor to get my monthly
supply of medications from the NHS because I was running out of Effexor. I
then had a look at the counter where I keep my medications and discovered I
had Effexor for 10 more days. I felt glad not to have and go and wait for
hours to be received by the doctor. I also carry a book, but very often, I
end up chatting with the people waiting with me, specially if they are
women.

It would take longer than that to read a life of Garibaldi. Did you know

their civil war?

'The shape of water', by Andrea Camilleri, translated from Italian into
American English. It's a detective story. I'm not sure there's a villain
in it, except for the victims. The Sicilian State Police must be rather
different from those in the north - they seem extremely informal with
one another, which doesn't fit with everything else I've heard. Maybe
it's being in a small town rather than a city.

doing the CBT, I get to try talk therapy - I may even get a letter about
the possibility of having an appointment within three weeks. The letter,
that is, not the appointment.
And I finished the book about five forty-five, even with an hour when I
couldn't do any reading! Five hours to read a whole book! I'm amazed.
Definitely an interesting day. I have the whole evening to make up for
it.
