Interesting Gifts |
My brother gave my son a book that is the reproduction, copies, of Kurt
Colbain's notebooks.. His words, his rantings, his reflections, his fragments
of song lyrics, grocery lists, lists of things he had to do to get his music
recorded, how he felt about not wanted to have to act like a 'celebrity', and
not just be himself the same as anyone else.. How he hated himself, and felt
inadequate and stupid. When my son came home, he showed it to me, and said
"This looks just like your notebooks, (because of the writing the sketches, and
the odds and ends jotted down on the same pages as songs, little thoughts,
etc).
Only where his are song lyrics, mine are poems, but6both are reflections.
It is so interesting. I love to get into troubled, complicated ppl's minds.

Sean got a book of Tupac's poetry from his Dad. Okay, I'll echo what
you've said: I love (and apparently so do my kids') to get into
troubled, complicated people's minds.

Cool!
My brother got "the Da Vinci Code" from a friend, but since he had already
read it he gave it to me. Unlike the TV special made it out to be, it is
fiction. so far, pretty interesting.

I've been hearing about The Da Vinci Code for a while now. What is it
about? I have no clue what it is.

Well, I've only gotten through the first two chapters of the book, but
accorindg to the hype all about it, it was to be proof of 'shocking' "evidence"
that Jesus had a wife, possibly Mary magdalene, and children. Supposedly from
the 'code' in Da Vinci's paintings. The Television program on the 'proof' was
very obscure, and the 'evidence was like they were reaching for straws.
