Object: Is the Usenet/Google spam algorithm broken?
Didn't it used to catch most of the spammers pretty effectively,
especially the repeaters like the damn Nike Sneakers for sale in
China...

individual.net used to catch just about all of them, too. Now
there's a ton of spam getting through, also including the
Chinese sneakers.

Easynews doesn't block any post. It's part of their "full unfiltered

I've never missed anything (referenced) but spam. I can see the
unfiltered pov, but I like the filter, when it works.

Their position is more about the binary groups and that if they set it
up to filter out the spam, they would be obligated to filter out the
copyrighted material too.

individual doesn't carry binaries, unfortunately. Otherwise,
they're cheap and pretty reliable, so I stick with them. Can't
afford a monthly fee for Usenet just to get binary downloads via
dial-up.

If I didn't have a cable modem, I wouldn't get binaries either.

I have whatever I want downloaded by Joe's coworker. He doesn't
mind downloading and burning discs.
