That the Beatles released 'Sergeant Pepper's Heart's Club Band'.
Cue MP3s.

The opinions given above may be mine. They might also
just be what I feel like saying right now, okay?

It makes me very happy that my nephew is a huge Beatles fan...
Considering how much junky music there is these days, a kid could do a
lot worse then listen to the Beatles' wonderful music, and it's always
nice when the younger generation learns about good music....

It's an important date for those of us of a certain age. I left school
that summer, and started growing up.

The 1980s were important for me, never really
got over it. So I'm a 40 y/o with no life - and I'm
not really sure how to deal with it. Down some
jugs and just not try to ... I guess. The way the whole
world is setup is not right.

I graduated in 1984. I LOVED the 80's

What do you mean when you say the world isn't set up right? Not
agreeing or disagreeing with you, just trying to understand where you
are coming from.

I'm not saying the world has been bad to me, I just don't
get it. Been fighting it since primary school in that I don't
fit in - I think differently to most folk.
Now at 40 I'm quite messed up and don't know where
to go from here.
A feeling of "it's all over". If there was an "off" button
I'd use it. Sorta life happened (not had a relationship
since 21), I'm not really even sure what I'm interested
in these days - it's not a lot.

I bet many here can relate. Hell, it's one of the reasons I come here.
So, you're not alone. OK, next question: what do you mean by not
fitting in?

Now at 40 I'm quite messed up and don't know where
to go from here.

Turning 40 is weird, indeed.

Do you think this is because you don't know what you want, or because
you don't think anything good is possible, therefore, wanting better is
pointless because it ain't gonna happen? Why do you think you haven't
had a relationship since you were 21?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand you a little better.

Oh, yeah.

A feeling of "it's all over". If there was an "off" button
I'd use it. Sorta life happened (not had a relationship
since 21), I'm not really even sure what I'm interested
in these days - it's not a lot.

I think I've done it all before - same job all life. A better car,
stereo, or
whatever is not gunna make me feel good (and I certainly don't own a
mega buck car - nor want one) house is for sale.
House sale and buying something in the country - I
just don't know.
I don't really know what's wrong with me, I'm just not
compatible. Didn't have 1/4 life crisis, the mid life one
is kinda hard. Drink too much, and all the rest of it.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand you a little better.

I feel very alone, there is another member of the NG I talk
too. A feeling of when I want someone I want them, when
I don't I don't. Hard to describe.
The main feeling is I'm feeling I'm always working against
stuff, when others work with stuff.
